So the legend is true.

I've been playing League of Legends 11 days now... started the 8th. In that timeframe I've been flamed 3 times. I've been called a Feeder, a Bot, and an Idiot.

I guess its true what they say about League of Legends.

(hug) Welcome to League of Legends! Glad you've stopped by, there is a lot of fun here! I love Sona so I am named Sona, thus making me Matron of all Sonas!

I'm sorry you had some unfortunate teammates! Just remember that starting off you'll encounter some newer players as well who might be a bit grumpy! Don't be too disheartened though, not everyone is like that! However, in the off chance that you meet someone who is "flaming you" or you think is "toxic" you should utilize the muting feature in game as a means of protecting yourself from such negativity!

That's not to say there aren't some veteran players who are meanie poo poo butt heads, there are all types who play this game! The key is just to ignore what random strangers on the internet and just play your little heart out to achieve the enjoyment you came to achieve! However, if you feel someone was bing an extra meanie poo poo butt head, at the end of the game the is a reporting feature that allows you to tell on the naughties!

I hope you enjoy your stay here, and welcome to League of Legends! See you on the rift!

This is how my new player experience was. Absolute. Dogshit. [sg-shisa]

You know, 3 times out of 11 days (not sure how many games you played in those 11 days), that ratio isn't all that bad. I get a flamer around once every 8-10 games.

That said, low level is notoriously know as a pocket of toxicity. That's where all the people that are banned for toxicity start a new account. They don't change their ways, so they flame the heck out of things they don't like.

Just remember to use the mute button when you encounter those flamers and report them after the game.

Keep playing and it won't get much better

Don't let it discourage you. Just know that the vast majority of players you are playing with are bad, so don't take anything personally. You do need some thick skin to play this game but you eventually learn to tune out all the bullshit people say. Make use of the mute function (on the scoreboard there should be a little box next to the player's name to do so) and report them after the game, as they will eventually get banned if their poor behavior continues.

i mean lets be real. you will be all 3 for a good while if you dont already have MOBA background. take it has encouragement to get better and exceed their expectations. use as motivation not a deterrent. be different than the community and use it as your strength this way.

It'll get better. You're playing with a lot of recently permabanned players right now.

Welcome to the League.

To help you remain here for as long as you want, I offer you some advice (free of charge):

  1. I recommend that you turn off all-chat (or never turn it on in the first place). It is way for the enemy to get under your skin. Also, some of your team mates use it to get under your skin. There is practically no rational reason to have all-chat "on". (Yes, occasionally you might hear a nice joke through it. Most of the time it is used for some kind of psychological warfare though. For jokes, you have other sources.)

  2. If someone annoys you with his behavior or gameplay; mute his chat, his pings and his emotes. Don't talk to him or about him - nothing at all (ie, no "Reported" or "I will report you." or "Report X for being mean."). After the match is over, use the reporting system to report him. By following this advice, you will most likely avoid being punished by the Instant Feedback System (IFS). I do not believe in the "Mute All at the start" school of thought. Most of your teammates are good (or at least neutral) people who wish to win the match. If you cannot hear them when they try to talk, you won't be able to reap the benefits of their words.

  3. Positivity is beneficial for the team, but if you cannot achieve that, be silent instead. Negativity kills team morale and causes at least some of the losses.

Anyways, always remember that the purpose of games is to have fun. I hope you have lots of it playing League.

Is this the first competitive online game you've played?

New player experience is abysmal thanks to all these wanna be professional bronze/silver/gold players creating smurf accounts and then feeling superior to everyone else because they're oh so good at the game already. Here's a hack to make it 100% more bearable, at the start of the game type the following into chat: "/fullmute all", this way they cannot bother you with chat or pings anymore.
