Are Bans REALLY necessary in Co-OP vs. AI?

So, this is just my first post, so the formatting of posts I don't really have a clue, but I'll try to make it as organized as possible.

So my question is, "Are Bans REALLY necessary in Co-OP vs. AI?"

Personally, I don't think it is necessary because it doesn't effect the playing experience too much for many people. Most of the games I've played has had either Mid or Jungle afk for the rest of the game (sometimes even both), and we still won. I'm sure this complaint has been made a some number of times in the forums, or just in private chats. I only raise the question because I and many people get the God-foresaken punishment that is the "20 minute penalty" for 5 games. I sound selfish yes, but I feel like this is a complaint that isn't actually talked about on forums, asking the developers, "Hey, can you remove this annoying thing, for this and that reason?"

I know these are faulty points, but within higher levels which is like 99% of the community (Level 30s) and the lower levels are mostly smurfs for these higher level accounts.

If it's a possibility, then maybe remove the penalty only on Co-Op vs. AI??

Edit 1: Or have the 20 minute penalty timer be similar to the not so strict timer where you receive the message, turn the notification off and do other things like browse shops, chat, etc. whilist the timer is off-screen.

Edit 2: Sorry if you see this so much. This gets removed for being in the wrong board, even though I posted it in the recommended board...

Edit 3: I forgot to clarify, due to network issues. Network issues is my main problem as to why I disconnect and cannot rejoin

If you can't play nicely with others... then you won't play. One of Riot's stances which I like and agree with.

I received a one day ban for leaver buster back in 2013, due to not understanding the implications of leaving a game. The only thing that has caused me to leave a game since then is network issues on my side.

The reason they need to have the bans in place is to make new players understand the consequences of leaving, and to prevent leaving in PvP matches. To lessen the penalty on Coop vs AI would only make that lesson that much harder to teach.

Game mode has no influence on this matter, nor is the severity of the damage you have inflicted upon others. You either violate the terms, or you didn't.

since when did AI games have bans?

you pick your players out of your roster and go...no bans.

maybe you were thinking normals?
