Reward reform post permanent ban to keep user base ? Reform cards more detailed ?

Welcome League of Legends community, first I would like to start off with being told it would be a good idea from RIOT support to suggest this idea. I am a 3 year member of league of legends that was permabanned for terrible language toxicity being a common thing with the past me. As a reformed individual I created another account and cut the toxicity out of my life and already honor 4 from being dishonorable on my main account. The hassle of having to start fresh and level up all over again adds to the "resolve" one can reach after such a harsh punishment. So my idea is 2 of which that since lol does not specifically express that you cant have more than one account and they know when you do that once you reach an honor level of 5 you can be rewarded with one champion and skin of your choice. Helping promote positive behavior is already in place but it doesn't take into the account of changed individuals that have spent a lot of money on the game already. Also for the people that may say " playing league in general is a privilege" . You would be correct but just think from my perspective. Second idea, with reform cards instead of being vague should tell you exactly how many chances you have left and what offenses cause you to skip levels. I know it says on the support page but for people that are in shock they should be able to read in detail what will happen and so on. Now this isnt an appeal but rather a chance to prevent more permabanned players and help make the community better.

Below is dialogue that should have been explained in my reform card.

LULZIFY November 4th 2017, 10:55:34 pm I understand that I am a toxic player. Hence my 14 day suspension. As a result I have been trying my hardest and I find that the chat log is a way to vent for me. I have been playing league of legends for the past 4 years spending upwards of 300 dollars on this game. I love the game and its literally all I do. Now I am not the greatest player but I am not someone that cant learn to fix themselves. I would like a chance with chat restrictions. I was blind to the punishment system and how important this game was to me. I just want someone to talk to that can perhaps help me understand my frustration. Take away my all chat or talking to people. I just want help getting better.

LULZIFY November 5th 2017, 11:57:54 am I didnt know I was on my final straw and I was oblivious to what I was saying and I just want once last chance to redeem myself.

KIRIIKO November 6th 2017, 5:11:23 pm Hey LULZify,

I took a look at your account and the 2 week ban you received the past month was meant to be a huge red flag that your account was on very thin ice. We were looking for immediate reform. Because the toxicity continued even after these warnings were given, a permaban was placed. The same homophobic slur and telling others to kill themselves was seen in both the chat from the 2 week and the most recent permabanned game. Please understand we have a zero tolerance policy against this level of toxicity. I understand it's rough losing your account, but the ban was correctly placed and will not be modified or lifted.

Below is dialogue with RIOT Employee who was very patient with me during my times of toxicity:

SKELETOR November 12th 2017, 4:32:19 pm Hey there,

This news is going to be tough to hear, but after reviewing the account's behavior I will not be changing the decision. That said, the use of slurs and the phrase "kys" is strictly forbidden in our game because of this I will not be reducing or modifying the suspension.

Looking at your account's history it looks like you were warned about this behavior with a previous two-week suspension. Please understand that a two-week suspension puts an account on very thin ice, and all negative behavior will need to stop immediately or the account will be permanently suspended.

Regardless of how you meant this content, the community at large has deemed that they don't want this type of behavior in their games, and we stand by that decision.

Know that each player is held responsible for their own actions, so If players are flaming you or being offensive, it's never beneficial to respond to them with flame, whether it's in self-defense or if it's out of frustration. It's always best to mute toxic players and report them in the post game lobby, so you don't get disciplined as well.

Please understand that once an account is suspended permanently, that there is no way to regain access to the account or any of its content. Our stance is strict because we want players to take the reform process seriously.

That said, with regards to your account's content. I'm sorry, but I won't transfer content from one account and another :(.

I wish you luck moving forward on whatever game you decide to play from here.

LULZIFY November 12th 2017, 4:50:52 pm Thank you Skeletor. I understand since the punishment was correctly placed you cant lift the ban at all. But even the transfer of goods is merely just access. So what I am hearing is that although you have the capability to allow access to the same content this account has. You wont do so because I would have to pay all over again to get that access?Since paying with RP and Be allows the user access not gives it to them so paying again for access is necessary. Alright. I understand.

LULZIFY November 12th 2017, 4:52:25 pm I just wish that in the reform card it said that next offense would automatically result in permaban. But thanks you answered my question.

SKELETOR November 12th 2017, 8:49:38 pm Yes, your understanding is correct, and I would like to see the reform cards be clearer, but unfortunately, the support team doesn't have control over those design decisions :(. I would recommend you share this idea on the boards and see what others think about it.

If you have anything new you would like me to address please let me know.

LULZIFY November 12th 2017, 9:52:57 pm Is there anything I can do to obtain champions faster. I have been at the same amount of blue essence since lvl 17 Besides buying the champions itself with money. If you could explain the system of blue essence to me and in addition something I think would be valuable. The punishment system should be more orientated on reform as well as more information. These suggestions ill share on the boards but I believe the reform cards should include a link to boards and perhaps the live chat that was available. If only the cards were clearer I would have known that the ice was even thinner than I imagined. I had thought that there was 4 levels and I found out that I got pushed right to third lvl. I just in some way feel like besides the amazing support you have given me that the way the process was handled was not optimal for league of legends at all. Instead of being permabanned after 2 offenses users should have the right to work their way up by showing honor and respect even on another account. Its just so hard to gain all the champions and I dont like complaining but perhaps you can level with me and understand how difficult it is to be to late to reform.

LULZIFY November 12th 2017, 9:53:27 pm perhaps I am just griefing :(

SKELETOR November 13th 2017, 4:21:14 pm I do think the new system is a little difficult to level considering that you no longer get BE per win, however the only way to get more BE is through the Win of the day as well as the chests you get from leveling. That said once you reach level 30 and beyond you will get BE per level and you will be able to buy more Champions quicker.

That aside, I do suggest you post those proposed improvements to the boards and see what others think about them.

If you have anything new you would like me to address please let me know.

Additionally I would like to thank Skeletor for communicating with me as a person and leveling with me, if people like Skeletor made the reform cards less people would be perma banned. During a level of toxicity people just want someone to talk to.

Anyways thank you for reading my post and I hope you learned something from the dialogue and please input your opinion in the comments below and be sure to vote as well :)

For the reform cards, it is not Riot's job to tell you that hate speech is unacceptable. It is the player's job, after being given the 14 day suspension (or after any prior chat restrictions) to determine what they did wrong. It is not hard to be a decent player, and it should not take a step by step breakdown of what you did wrong to get you to reform. The punishment itself should be a motivation to reform, as should the threat of a permanent ban.

As to the idea for giving players something when they reform, no. To reform requires toxicity, and toxicity should never be rewarded. Reform is rewarded by future accounts not being re-banned, not by giving players who were previously toxic rewards. That would reward their toxicity, and also would be quite rude to those players who were never toxic enough to be permanently banned (i.e. over 99% of League players) by saying "hey, these toxic players get free things, and you don't".

Congratulations on reaching Honor level 4 on your new account. It seems like you really have been trying to be a positive influence on the League community, and that is always appreciated, not only by Riot, but by the other players who interact with you.

I was unawares that the current Reform Cards didn't have that warning in them that an account on a 14 day suspension was on it's last chance. They used to have a warning in them to let the player know that they were on thin ice, and that any further rule violations could (and probably would) result in the permanent suspension of the account. Perhaps that has been changed recently. If so, it should definitely be put back in. As the Reform Cards are generated by the IFS, they need to be written in a format that is generic enough to address the overall topic, but that doesn't mean that they cannot have some specific points listed. For example, if an account was escalated through the system for the use of hate speech slurs ( things like fa%%%%% or ni%%%%% ), I don't see any reason why an additional sentence in the Reform Card stating that Riot has a zero-tolerance policy towards hate speech, and the use of such racial or homophobic slurs, even in jest, is not allowed, couldn't be added. It doesn't require some massive amount of effort to code it in, and it will clarify for many players just what they were punished for. A similar sentence could be added for the use of "kys" or death threats. Obviously, not all reports will fit into cookie-cutter molds and be so easy, but many are.

And with regards to hate speech, I do actually disagree with Chermorg. Various racial, homophobic and sexist slurs have become locally reclaimed parts of the vernacular in MANY parts of the world, and are considered acceptable terms to use within certain age groups. Because of that, these words become a second nature type of slang for many young people, and some of them simply use the words out of habit. Not every person who logs into a game and calls someone a slur is doing it as an insult, and some of them are genuinely confused when they get slapped with a 14 day suspension for using words that they use every day of their lives. It does not mean that they are not a decent person. If it is Riot's policy to send players a Reform Card telling them which of their actions are inappropriate in every other situation, it's only fair to do the same in this one. If the player chooses to ignore the temporary ban, then that is on them, and any further consequences they will simply have to deal with.

I don't think reform cards should be more detailed. They just give chat from 1-5 games, right? (correct me if wrong)

I think players need to take it upon themselves to fix their behavior, when wrong. If it's handed to you what you need to do, are you likely to read your chat? No, I think the process of taking it upon yourself really helps to increase the likelihood that you actually reform.
