I don't even understand how this can happen

Why is riot encouraging trolling and griefing while punishing the victims?

I had a game where a teammate wanted to play ryze mid but wasn't firstpick and i didn't want to risk playing against ryze top so i banned it. Then upon starting the game such player followed me everywhere even using teleport to deny me all the cs, he opened mid minute 1 and just sticked to me all the game. After min 15 the surrender failed 4/1 and i left the game.

Here's where the fun part comes.

I recorded the entire game and contacted support in order to get that player banned, they said his attitude wasn't the best but mine was bad and i had to be careful or the next time i would get a worse punishment, i was shocked to hear that and for my surprise the next day the support ticket was closed i see im banned 14 days for grief/trolling in one game, the game i sent to support. I asked what i did to deserve such punishment and their answer was literally "Leaving the game and blocking an ally champion", after 2 days trying to appeal my ban they just shut down the ticket saying the ban is justified and they won't remove it.

The email where they say im banned 2 weeks for banning an ally champion and leaving the game (it's in spanish): https://imgur.com/zyLnZZ4

Translation by Umbral Regent: As my companion xSHAKAx tells you in the other application, your penalty comes for leaving the game intentionally after also blocking a champion from a player. This is a penalty of two weeks, since you are ruining the experience of all players in the game, who will have to play it with one player less for having left. For this reason the sanction is well applied and will not be withdrawn or reduced.

It would not be that bad if at least that player got banned, since he was really griefing and i sent them video evidence. Surprise, upon checking him in op.gg he is still playing the game, no bans.

I really can't understand why, it seems like they just hit me hard to discourage me from contacting them ever again in fear of being permabanned, or that trolling is really allowed, or maybe it's just me and blocking an ally champion is way worse than trolling and i really deserve the punishment.

What's your opinion? Do you have any advice for me in future games to deal better with trolls?

i highly doubt your story tbh. i've yet to see someone get banned for banning someones champ. and for leaving? laughable.

Holy vote manipulation. Mods need to see this asap.

This right here is trolling and griefing. You intentionally left the game clearly. The banning a teammates champion is just more evidence that you are intentionally griefing your teammates in games.

Declaring a champ and then someone banning them is pretty bad..

Do not really have an opinion on if yours is deserved or not...

Just sayin that it is a bad look.

What's with all these fuckbois saying banning someone's champ is ban worthy and agreeing with that fact? If I can get banned for banning my teamates choice then why am I allowed to ban it in the first place if it's being hovered? This is why I dont spend money on this game.

If blocking an ally champion (I think they meant banning, right?) is punishable, then why is there even such an option? They should just make it impossible.

I see where you coming from, but intentionally leaving a game regardless of the reason is the worst thing that you can do. I know that your team tried to surrender but the troll didn't let it happen. Still, if your other teammates are not giving up, you should also stay and try your best. I've won games 3v5 despite all odds. I know that you were pissed, but the troll was also pissed because you have banned his champion.

You are not playing a championship where it may be crucial to ban a certain champ.

High morale is the most important thing in this game.

If you are friendly with your team and they are friendly with you, even if you lose a game you won't feel bad or frustrated. After that fateful ban, you should've expected your teammate to get upset.

Do you deserve a 14 day ban for leaving this one single game? No you don't. You should get a warning. Does the troll deserve to get a ban for trolling that one single game? No he should not get a ban. Just a warning. You both had your reasons to act the way you did.

Last thing, If you absolutely have to ban a champ that someone declared, go ahead and lie about it. Just say that you did that on accident. At least this way you will avoid situation like that you've got.

Good luck bro.

  • Were you first pick? In that case, I would have offered to pick Ryze for him. This way if you Did ban Ryze, no one can say you didn't offer to secure Ryze for him.

  • Going AFK/Leaving the game is punishable behavior, regardless of the context. Self exploratory, you shouldn't have done that.

  • Banning a Teammates Highlighted pick is a scummy thing to do. Sometimes it happens on accident (which does happen), however people who it intentionally give the impression that they themselves are Toxic and only do it to spite/troll their teammates. In the future, I'd refrain from doing this sort of thing.

OP, if this is the full story, sorry this happened to you. That's an abuse of power by the Customer Support agent and he should be reprimanded. First, it's terrible customer service to respond to someone complaining about something to then punish them for something they showed you in a video. Then to close the ticket without investigating what was going on or the fact you were trolled by another player the whole game is really alarming.

I feel like CS on Riot's end has really gone downhill. There's no checks and balances into making sure people are actually doing their jobs over there and not arbitrarily closing tickets or even abusing their powers. The whole "Change your account name" fiasco that went down recently was the latest example of me having a bad experience with Riot's CS.

Anyway I would be persistent as much as you can and I hope you can get this overturned. Good luck!

Don't ban people's champions. Or FP for them/ask if you can. That's the moral of the story. I see a ton of people mess around like this in the lobby! You just hit the jackpot, considering he was upset enough to do this.

Veloz Destello12/13/2019, 7:37:19 PM1 votes

Disfrutalo, por banear el pick de otro :)

DragonStryker12/13/2019, 7:51:49 PM1 votes

I mean, you banned a champion he wanted to play and then were confused when he was upset? What did you expect? Next time coordinate with your team to get him Ryze, so then everyone can be happy.

And you still have an obligation to play out the game, leaving is a bannable offence.

OtterlyLost12/13/2019, 8:02:23 PM1 votes

I mean. What they did was bad, but you were kind of an asshole. Whatever the reason, banning someone's HOVERED CHAMPION is griefing and an asshole move. :/ Just saying.

Charmy Bird12/13/2019, 8:13:54 PM1 votes

Since when is banning a teammates champ bannable? They never ever said something like that and if it is indeed bannable then why are we allowed to do so? This is a huge issue from that particular rioter I can't imagine this being the main philosophy of the majority of rioters. Maybe try and contact the English support instead of Spanish one.

Imperial Pandaa12/14/2019, 12:32:00 AM1 votes

What was the name of the account of yours that is banned? This one doesn't have a game since March of last year and I wanted to check something out with it.
