What should the punishment be for an internet caused disconnection?

Multiple people have problems with internet, and lots of people can relate to the experience of the game crashing mid-game and having to reload league only to see that you have a leaverbuster and/or lost LP. Now I understand that leaving the game/going afk is a punishable offense, but I don't get why such an uncontrollable thing as internet is punished by losing LP, I mean there is no malicious intent like "haha I want to ruin the game for my team" or "I'm going to quit because I am angry!" I can't tell you how many times I've lost LP or gotten punishments for my wifi crashing or because my brother restarted the router without checking with me (facepalm) Now a few ideas for punishments:

  1. You get 0 LP if your team wins, lose 10 if your team loses
  2. This next one is only if you win. You get time based punishments (time as in the amount of time you are out of the game). Missing for 1-3 minutes = normal amount of LP won. 3-6 minutes = 0 LP won, 6-12 minutes = -10 LP, 12+ minutes = -25 LP
  3. Other. Tell me in the comments

Edit: I was going to make a poll but for some reason it will not let me, so instead, please just tell me in the discussion below if you like options 1 or 2, have your own idea, or think it's fine with the LP lost of a full game.

EDIT 2: PLEASE READ: I'd like to make it clear that I'm not taking any sides here, nor am I saying that I want this fixed because I have bad connection. Sometimes this does happen to me, but I am more speaking for others I have seen on the forums and I have spoken with. All I want to know is your opinion on how you think the punishment should be, not why its my fault I have bad connection.

Problem is that there's no way to know how/why a player disconnected. Even if they could detect a sudden disconnect vs. alt+F4 or just leaving the game through the menus, adding a system like this just means players stop leaving games that way. They'll just turn off their computer, pull the ethernet cord from it, kill the router, etc.

Why should the system discriminate between intentional and accidental disconnects? Both adversely effect the game. I've had connection issues before, but I think the system is fine as is.

Because it is controllable. The suitability and stability of the operating environment is in the player's control. The methods used to connect to the server is in the player's control. The decision to play is in the player's control.

The individual for whom the situation is "uncontrollable" is the other players. They are the ones who feel the consequences of the situation in question. They are the ones who lose out to something they cannot control.

When an individual decides to play when they already know they have frequent problems in doing so, they are knowingly and deliberately taking action that they know is likely to be harmful and doing so regardless of the repercussions on others.

You say it does not have "malicious intent" but the intent is to act in a way that is both "deliberate" and "harmful". Either way, the result is the same, the player stands to ruin the game for 4-9 other players and he continues do so anyway.

That's why it is punished.
