Honor system, "justice" sytem, "support" sytem
I used to love this game... i really did... i am playing this game since season 1 and i quit it quite a few times... This time around i had a clear mind and i wanted to leave all the prejudice i had behind and just play... BUT then reality hit me hard... THIS GAME is unfair... It used to be really fair and then Riot decided that she doesnt care about the players and money is more important. Dont get me wrong, money is important BUT having satisfied customers it is an easier way to make money than frustrated ones.
In the 10 years the game has changed the changes i see are horrible... Having the skill to rank up stopped being important and having "a good behavior" became a must so you can play this game... Dont get me wrong , you should really not be a pain in the ass for no reason and annoy your teamates but being punished when you dare to speak to a troll that is ruining your game is just rediculous...
When a player does everything in his power for your team to lose and you talking to him gets you punished it is impossible to enjoy the game. And i am not talking about cursing i am talking about the classic phrase " stop feed"... Did you know that this little phrase is considering "harassment" and "being toxic"?? I didnt either... So lets be real for a second... Is it harassment? Is it toxic? Or is it just a way to state to your teamate that you are frustrated with the way he is playing and maybe he should play a little bit safer?
When in game you dont have the time to actually communicate your feelings properly so you can make your teamate understand how his playing makes you feel. Imagine being in promos and playing your best possible game and then all of a sudden one of your teamates just because the jungler didnt do a good gank to him starts feed on purpose...Wouldn't you be frustrated? I would... but when you are punished just because you dared saying anything what would you do? Mute the chat and play you would say... well thats a nice thought BUT people have emotions and when you are playing a game and whether you rank up or do the effort all over again is at state you dont think clearly...
Thats where the justice system is unfair... A "toxic" player , and i am talking for a player that actually just communicates his feelings and yet he is not cursing. gets punished for talking and yet the feeder will not. Why is he less toxic than the one that is talking? I find people that feed way more frustrating than the people that talk, even more frustrating than the people that actually curse. Did you know that telling someone that you will report them is considering "harassment" and being "toxic"? I didnt either... How come letting someone know that their behavior and their way of playing makes you wanna report them is considering harassment? I think it is a way to let them know that they should behave or play better.
Everyone has bad days, but i think that when someone is a feeder he will never change. When i see a player that constantly has 15+ deaths in his games he doesnt have a bad day or a bad game, he is a feeder on purpose. He takes fights he knows he wont win anyways and doesnt care for his team. Why shouldnt he be banned for ruining people's games and someone that he dares pointing it out is labeled "toxic" and gets banned?
So lets move on to the "honor" system... The honor system is just stupid... You have no way of knowing whether you are progressing or not and if you get a restriction you drop a level. Because having a 5 games chat restriction is worth droping a level... It is worth losing your entire season's rewards and maybe next year's for 5 chat restrictions... Which actually makes you be more "toxic" because you know that your honor level wont come back up soon. Thats the way Riot "reforms" players... which is actually worthless... It will take you less time to level up a new account than to try and level up your honor.
But your honor never really ranks up... I have an example... I had a new account i got a 5 chat restriction, just because i talked, no cursing at all... after a while (6 months period) my honor never ranked up even though i got honored almost every game and i honored back in every single game. You can see how a player gets frustrated after 6 months of no progress...I found myself being more on edge after a while, being a little more "toxic" every time... I was frustrated to a point i didnt care anymore...Why bother being good to others when i get nothing back for it. To be fair you should be good to others anyways but when playing a game where being good has a reward and you are not getting it you start giving up. So i managed to drop my honor level to 0, and then to lock it... And this is where the fun starts... I created a new account...21 levels in, i get honored in every single game, i honor back as well , i am level 2 honor and yet 0 progress... I am the most honorable player every single game... why there is no progress? Because proress doesnt really exists... It is random...
So lets move on to the player support... The player support it is actually useless to say at least. I used to have a boyfriend that was very jealous of me playing the game with my friends which ended up for us breaking up. For the time we were together though he had access to my PC, which made it easy for him to know my passwords. As i was naive i didnt change them until very very late(propably a year after the break up)Even though i told them that it wasnt me that was playing and that my ex boyfriend took advantage of the time i wasnt playing to play games and flame on my expense and make me lose my account their only response was that it was my responsibility that i shouldnt give my password away. I didnt give it away, it was practically stolen and i had no knowledge that someone was playing with my account. I told them that they were free to track the IP to see that i was telling the truth and yet again their response was that i shouldnt give my password away as robots will answer... 0 compassion whatsoever, 0 flexibility.
That made me feel very frustrated... That made me wanna take revenge on the fields... I stopped being nice... It didnt matter anymore... If they werent gonna listen to me why should i listen to them? They want good and wellbehaved players, i wasnt going to be one of them.
And i come to the last part of this very very long essay... Riot treats everyone the same... It will be an ideal policy in a world where everyone is the same but we dont live in such a world. People are different, and every person should be treated differently. Riot has the same policy for everyone but not everyone needs the same treatment... People with mental issues and mental disorders should be treated in a different way. Riot doesnt know what impact a decision or a punishment will have in each and every single one of us. If for example someone suffers from depression and League of Legends is his only escape punishing him will have a greater impact than on someone that is mentally healthy.
When a person with a mental disorder decides to play the game it is his choice you will say, but does this person really know how Riot's policy will affect him? He really doesnt. He realizes it only after ... The support system should be more flexible towards that kind of players and give them a different treatment than others. Not only because they are different but because maybe just maybe that player has only LoL to count on, to keep him going and face life...It is very hard to get up from the bed somedays, maybe playing brings a little bit more joy to this person's life. Punishing him for being maybe more emotional than others and let his feelings get the best of him isnt a way to treat someone.
We are "toxic"... you will label us this way... But are we really? Or we are just trying to live life? Do you know how hard it is to say "i wont die today"? For some of us playing this game and trying to be better at it is a cope mechanism, a safe space to make us able to keep going. To go to our job, to finish our school, to deal with our family, to get up every morning from our beds and say that everything is gonna be alright.... If Riot considered giving us the benefit of the doubt that we might not be as "toxic" as they think we are we might be better. The policy of treating everyone equally is not fair.
In an unfair game treating people differently it might not be so unfair as Riot thinks. You would say that people would abuse the system to get what they want and be as toxic as they want with no consequences but Riot hires every year a ton of people just to design better champions and skins, i am sure they can hire a team of phycologists in their support team to judge whether someone actually has a mental disorder or he is trying to abuse the system.
Riot i used to love your game, but now i am just disappointed... and very tired... Fix your mistakes already so people can enjoy your game... This way the way the system works it isnt fun anymore...
