Trolling in ranked
First off, i apologize for the somewhat misleading title, but then I don't. What I'm going to talk about is not your conventional type of troll, who intentionally feeds, or runs it down mid. I will talk about unintentional trolls, the people who, are aware of their decisions, but are not aware of the toxicity of their actions.
Before I continue, I will point out that I am by no means (at all) a high rank, at the time of writing this, I sit at gold 5, and have been for a while, I'm not saying I should be in a higher rank, or that the "trolls" I speak of are keeping me back. I want you to think of this article as more of a Public Service announcement. If you happen to come across this article, and see yourself or maybe your friends fitting in with the types of people I am about to describe, feel free to share this article, spread the message. Enough now, moving on.
- The First-Timer: This is the person who is placed in a role they don't usually play, maybe they got auto-filled, or maybe they (for some reason) queued up for this role, anyway, this person tends to end up not only playing an unfamiliar role, but champions they have sometimes never played before. I don't care if you've read a mobafire guide, or spent hours watching Faker, when playing a role for the first time, do it in a normal, because, if you take it into ranked, youre probably going to lose (surprise), there is no way you can know all the intricacies of the role youre going to play without hours of actual, first-hand experiance, or the minute details of the champion youre going to play, like their counter-matchups. And even if you do know who hard counters who and how youre "supposed" to play against certain champions, youre never going to be as good at this champion youre playing for the first time as that level 7 zed, who has spent hours honing his abilities. While youre struggling to cs with your champion, your opponent will be (not only micro'ing easily) but focusing on you, waiting for you to use your key abilities, waiting for his powerspike, and ultimately jumping in and killing you. If youre going to play a first time champion in ranked, you might as well be trolling, because there is no way you can expect to do anywhere near as well as someone who knows there role, who has invested time in learning their champions, and you're just putting yourself, and your team, in a 4 v 5 situation.
