Unjust ban for MMR Boosting?

This is hardly an original post and I'm fearing being crucified because of how many similar posts I see be "debunked" by a Riot mod.

But I logged in today, went straight into a ranked game, lost, and then the client messed up and when I tried to log in again it said I was banned until the 17th. I checked my email and apparently it's because of MMR Boosting and that I was disqualified from the season rewards, which sucks because I was trying to get Gold this season.

I don't know how Riot detects for this stuff, I don't think anyone does, but I assume it has something to do with where you're playing from and what you're playing and how well you're doing. Well I did move to university a few weeks ago and the internet in my dorm has been complete shit to say the least, however it was fixed yesterday. I don't know if that looks suspicious or what.

I've submitted a thing to player support but it's taking forever to get a response, so I figured I'd post here too.

Also I thought if banned accounts weren't able to log in or post on the forums?

The most common thing people who make threads like this end up finding out is that it was due to some sort of account sharing even if it wasn't specifically for boosting.

I have no doubt they look at location info when determining these things but there is no way it is the only factor or people would be massive amounts of people being banned for this. I have played from out of town locations on many occasions and never had any issue.

Are you the original owner of the account?

Are you 100% certain that no one else has ever played on your account? Do you log out of league when you leave your computer?

You need to submit a support ticket if you want more information. They probably won't tell you much more than that it is being upheld though.

Simply playing from a different location, or on a different computer, shouldn't trigger something like this. I also don't see anything particularly suspect in your match history. So not really sure on this one. It's probably best to submit a ticket to support.riotgames.com and see what happens (though they're notorious for copy/paste vague responses...) Can also hope somebody notices this thread and looks into it.

My expectation is that it's completely proprietary and intentionally obfuscated to prevent abuse, but at its core they define MMR boosting as one or more ranked games played on your account by someone else. Have you shared your account at all during this season, or otherwise allowed anyone other than yourself to play a ranked game on it?

Accounts that are banned in-game are allowed to post on the forums, the discipline systems for the Boards and the client itself are separate. :)

I know that the people who have been banned for elo boosting typically the bans are two weeks- one month prior to it. That would explain why it would come to a surprised, but if you haven't been boosted I would wait for Riot to reply to your ticket.
