Someone has my private information and now I'm worried.

Last night, I dealt with a situation that has led me to seriously want to either quit this game or, at the very least, change my username. Last night, while I was playing a match of Normals, some complete stranger has grabbed a hold of some of my personal information, such as my real name, the state in which I live, and the school I attend, and has used this information to threaten me. He suggested that he might drive to Georgia in hopes of finding me, and this made me worried. I don't know what this guy is capable of. After a bit of contemplation, I am trying to decide whether or not to report this guy to the local police, but I'm not too sure as to whether or not I should proceed with this course of action mostly because this guy has an embarrassingly inappropriate username, and also because I have very little proof of this occurrence, other than the report that I sent Riot. I have already blocked him, and reported him to Riot briefly telling them what he has done, but other than that, I'm not too sure what to do. I'm pretty worried, right now, and I don't know if he'll do anything malicious with this information. Below is a lengthy explanation as to what occurred, but if you're not interested in hearing the whole story, then I would suggest that you stop here. Do you guys have any input?

Last night, I was playing a bit of Normals to - sort of - cool off after consistently playing Ranked. I have finally hit Gold V, so in celebration of this, I decided to play champions that I never play, such as Ezreal, who I was playing in this particular match. During this match, we weren't doing so hot, and the guy in question, who has my information now, was visibly frustrated about this. I never antagonized him, though, and only voice my frustrations towards the match up that obviously wasn't in my favor. Sometime later on in the match, when all I could do was build a couple of Doran's Blades to try to keep up with the obnoxiously strong Lucian, he started to ridicule my build, along with someone else's build, to which I responded, "My build would be a lot better if you ganked Bottom more." This really set him off, and an array of words were exchanged to which I eventually brought up our ranks, something which I never do*. This made him really angry and that's when he decided to look up my account name and lo and behold, he also found quite a bit of my personal information as well. I guess this delighted him, because he was quick to disclose said information to the team and, if I remember correctly, to the enemy team as well. Eventually, the match ended, and someone on our team, who I presume is his friend, reassured me that he was just trolling and was trying to get at me. He also questioned why I didn't just mute him, which thinking about it now, I should've done the second he started flaming the team.

Whatever the case may be, whether he's trolling or not, finding someone's personal information and disclosing it to others is not okay, nor is it funny. I don't know who this guy is, and now that he knows who I am, I am extremely uncomfortable and worried. I don't know what he'll do with this information, but he implied that he might do something with said information. He might doxx me, or even come up to my campus looking for me. I simply don't know. Still, what should I do now? I can't just forget about it, because as we speak, my information may be getting leaked somewhere. As for any social media outlets that may have this information, the only thing that comes to mind is my Google+ account, which I have yet to find a way to disable it from being a public viewing space. There's also Instagram, but the privacy settings does not allow me to make my real name private, so I'll likely just change it. Regardless, this situation made me uncomfortable and visibly shaken, and I am not happy with it.

  • I never rank shame. Ever. Last night was probably the first time I've ever done so. It was probably a mixture of pride, from getting to Gold, along with a bit of tilt and anger towards yet another toxic flamer. I normally mute people, but the one time I don't is the one time I irrationally start an argument with one. Whatever the case may be, I don't approve of rank shaming and will likely never do it again.

Edit: Thank you all for your input and advice. After much evaluation and some much needed advice, I have found that my social media outlets are excruciatingly insecure and unsafe. I had initially believed that the perpetrator had received my information by means of hacking, or doing some thorough searches through the depths of the Internet, but really all it took was a quick Google search. Regardless, I truly appreciate all of your help. You guys helped me come to the conclusion that my life isn't as secure and anonymous as I had initially hoped.

You do realize you yourself spew out personal info about you. you're from georgia and you live on campus or frequent some uni atm, your league account name is the same as your google+ acc, instagram and googleing it reveals it's used for other accounts too, the instagram one like you said revealing your real name on the first page of results, 3rd result to be exact. You are almost entirely responsible for using such an account name that is attached to an account having your real name. You knew the privacy issues with instagram and yet you still used your real name. Not that a name itself matters that much, without a location and more details. But wait, you already gave more details. You see where I'm going with this?

Be more careful next time. Precaution first, mixed with a lil paranoia, will lead to a relaxed mind later.
