Permaban on account that never used third-party software?

Earlier this week, I received an email saying that my LoL account has been permanently suspended due to the use of third party programs. I will admit to using third party software, however I never used this software on this account.

I'm sure there are some skeptics, so let me explain.

I had a second account whose summoner name was Origillana. In an effort to see what features a particular third party software had and to satisfy my curiosity, I installed it on my computer and tried it out with this account (Origillana). I fully understood the risks of using software like this which is why I decided to create a second account just in case something were to happen and it get permanently suspended. Well, as one would have guessed, that account did get suspended on June 23. No big deal, right? That account was level 3 so it wasn't really a loss.

I proceeded to uninstall that software from my computer because I saw no benefit from using it and did not think that it was worth the time to get working correctly. There wasn't an uninstaller so I had to delete the files manually. Frankly, I am not surprised that something remained on my computer and I believe that this something was setting off a red flag on Riot's end causing my main account to be permanently suspended never having run the software. After digging around on my computer a few nights ago, I found a folder that was left behind in the AppData folder. My best guess is that these files were "running" in the background while I was playing the game. I had no idea there was anything running because there were no on screen aids or any other indication to me.

Long story short, I feel that this was a typical case of "Curiosity killed the cat;" a false positive of sorts. Like I said, I never used the contraband software on my main account, ZMoneyEra. I understood the risks and did not want to subject those to the account that I had spent the previous year leveling up, and, recently, climbing the ranked ladder, or trying to, at least :P

The support representative told me that bans don't get issued to player specific accounts. They only get issued to accounts that participated in such activities themselves. As mentioned before, I tried out the software on the Origillana account, but never actually ran it on the ZMoneyEra account, despite the remnant files in the background. This was just a huge technical glitch. Two other friends played on my computer so I would hate for their account to be banned like mine was.

Thanks for the read! Z

you don't have to have used the software to get punished.

Every time you log in, your client scans that PC for unauthorized 3rd party programs. If they found something, you'll get flagged for it and punished when they issue the ban wave.

I don't know why this got down voted. If the account was level 3 you only did co-op vs ai so u didn't ruin anyone's games
