Permanently Banned for Quoting an Enemy's Text

Hello everyone, I'm making this post today after talking with a Riot employee. I tried to resolve the situation there, hoping to just fix this situation and move on. As I'm sure you all can understand after reading the title, my account has been perma banned. Prior to this I got a 2-week suspension, but nothing beyond that. I've been doing my best to curb my language since the 2-week suspension, as I got suspended for hate speech violations in a heated match. I don't know exactly how many games I've played since the un-suspension, but I assure you it's been a lot more than just 2, and all those games save for the 2 games that got this account perma'd, I either did not type at all or just simply engaged in normal banter with teammates/enemies. Here are the chat logs that are associated with this ban:

I'm going to give a little bit of context to this to the anticipated replies. For starters, Game 2 happened the night before Game 1. Secondly, the "trump = south" comment was in response to an enemy player saying that by me using the word "y'all" I was a Trump supporter (game 2). The "ff 15 - afk and feed" comment during Game 1 was referring to the Swain who had fed the enemy Katarina mid then disconnected, only to reconnect and disconnect over and over again, occasionally being able to play for a bit during some points before he'd disconnect again. I was just calling for an FF because everyone except the enemy Vayne top was fed and I just wanted to get into a new match, one where I don't get 1 shot by everything, not being toxic to anyone. Lastly, I didn't say any words during Game 1 or Game 2 that were hate speech; I only quoted the enemy Kog'maw and Vayne when I typed ""fggots, fggot, p*ssy"." I'm going to be watching this post so feel free to call out anything else.

I made this post for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I'm hoping to get another Rioter in on this conversation to, hopefully, help me out with this situation. Secondly, I want to highlight how the automated system is very far from perfect. I want people to know what little things that you can say in League safely, because merely quoting the enemy is grounds for a permanent suspension, and I'd wager that if I hadn't been 2-week suspended before this that I would've gotten that punishment instead, so it wouldn't be because I "continued toxicity" or whatever else.

Lastly, I attempted to contact a Riot support employee prior to this post about the issue in the hopes of getting it resolved before I had to make a boards post about it. I've put together an imgur album of the conversation for everyone to see, to provide more clarity. I hope that in creating this I'll find a Rioter to help me with this, and to provide everyone else that happens upon this post a cautionary tale of what you can say in League chat and not. Personally, if I do make another account beyond this one, I will never type in chat again for any reason, because it is just simply too easy to get ban waved by this automated system.

Context doesn't excuse what YOU are saying. I think that's where people get the most confused about their punishments. Fighting fire with fire doesn't work in the eyes of Riot and will only make matters worse.

If your words cant stand alone as neutral/positive comments and are required to be put into context then that proves you as the individual know what you said is wrong.

So naive... Hate speech or 'kys' is not allowed under ANY circumstances. Even if you're quoting someone. Guess you had to learn that the hard way :/

Don't say anything relating to homophobic slurs, racial slurs, "kys" etc. Doesn't matter the context. You will be banned. Sucks but it's the way it works I guess.

First off by the supports comments it seems like you have games other than these two that led to your suspension. Even if I ignore the quotes there is still some negativity in these chat logs. You give up and blame your teammates. And since you showed this behavior constantly after getting a 14 day suspension as a final warning this ban is justified.

Edit: If you hadn’t been suspended before this than you probably would have gotten a 14 day ban. After contacting the support he would have reduced it to a chat ban instead.

Seems like quoting the word triggered the ban. If that were the only reason, then your ban would be repealed and you'd be back in the game. However, due to the rest of your logs, the punishment isn't going away.

Essentially, you're no longer banned for zero-tolerance policy. You're punished for negative behavior.

The support representative seemed pretty clear here:

  • Hate speech is zero tolerance, and unacceptable in every situation.
  • They do sometimes give leeway for just quoting someone, but...
  • You had just recieved a 14-day ban for that sort of language, and should know it's not okay.

In short, the first and third points combined made you ineligible for the second. You may not be HAPPY with that, but it was very clear. You were banned for typing hate speech, which you know is punishable, recently after a 14-day ban for hate speech. That's expected.

In Germany, it is illegal to say that the holocaust was not real. Even if someone tells you to say it, unless you are under duress, you will face punishment, regardless of context.

They're not gonna give you the answer you want to hear. Give up. Your negative behavior post-14-day ban got you perma'd. Now you're just spamming them.
