Oh that's right, I'd forgot how horrid the community was.

I had been living in a dream world the past few seasons, however thanks to riot's ability to focus on the things that really matter in the game...(not) I have sadly been ripped back to reality.

Now I've been playing this game for a very very long time (since 2012), and while I do take extended breaks I think of myself as a competent player. The past few season (3 through 5) I have been enjoying my lovely gold ranking in soloque while not really trying to advance past that. I apparently took this for granted, for now I'm back in the throws of low silver. I went 8-2 in my placements and was in gold 5 at the end of last season. Now I did lose a few games at gold 5 before the season ended but I got placed in Silver 5......(yipee).

Since I've been in low silver, I have seen more trolls, toxic, angry, and just overall people behaving like spoiled children than I have in the past 3 seasons combined. How is it that soooooo many people take this game sooooooo personally that you'd think it was their own loved ones were being desecrated. I'm not sure if this elo has always been this bad or it's just the current season but if this many vile people are playing then clearly the tribunal isn't strict enough.

Personally I have never received so much as a warning let alone a temp ban or chat restriction. I'm usually the guy trying to rally the team together to come back and win. I just had a particular instance where I kept my whole team going by getting myself fed and helping out all the while cheering them on. Just to have my adc say verbatim, "I wanted you to tank all of baron and die" while he proceeded to not stand in the pit. This was a grueling game, I ended it with 25 kills and spent a very very long time stalling for my team to catch up. How am I rewarded? With a team member who is clearly upset over something childish who intentionally gets me killed then runs in 1v5 to throw the game at 45 minutes.

If this is how the community is at this elo I can understand why people boost. Playing with this level of toxic behavior wears more on a person than any game mechanics. So what to sum it up I guess,

tl:dr -Are all lower elo's this bad? If so I think I'd rather sell my account and go play something else than spend more time with this community.

Thanks, Xaph

It's a topic that's been beaten to death, but all I can say is "Be thankful it's only that bad". Not trying to diminish your suffering in any way, because I know the reset has put a lot of us in really crappy scenarios. I myself returned to LoL back in November after roughly a year of not playing. I managed to climb up to S3 before pre-season ended, was really enjoying how challenging it was becoming, and the general shift in attitude from where I started a month prior. Then the reset occurs, I go from 2-0 in placements to 2-8, encountered several "lolimruiningyourplacements" trolls along the way, and was rewarded with a B4 placement. Fine, I'll climb back up. No ... no I won't. The general level of trolling, toxicity, and just horrible people I'm encountering since returning to low bronze has been indescribable. Took me over a week to get a chance to promo to B3, ended up getting the same guy "trying out" jungle draven on my team two games in a row, even after waiting several minutes before queuing up again. A few days later after several good and bad streaks, I'm one win from another chance at promos, we're destroying the other team and our jungle amumu quits playing and starts pouting because our ADC took "his red". Loss. I could name more of these, and we've all had them at some point or another, but the frequency with which this type of crap is happening to me for the past week has skyrocketed. Just look at my lolking score graph. Dropped from 1270 to the mid-800s over a weekend. So I can sympathize with you completely. It's becoming less enjoyable every day. Just last night I had a game I went 17-2 in, had two triples, was doing everything I could to carry my ass off, and we lose. Only person on my team with a positive score. And after the game, all I can do is shrug because I pretty much expect nothing less at this point.

Honestly, with the lower 2-3 tiers all getting dropped down to low-silver/bronze, it just means it's a crap shoot what you'll have to deal with at any time. Would love to see a hard reset at some point, or maybe just an upper tier reset between seasons.

I'm progressively getting worse at league, that or everyone else is getting better and my skills aren't improving. 2 seasons ago, I was gold, last season I was silver and this season (after promos) I was placed in Bronze 2.
It seems like an ego thing to me, guys in bronze / silver feel that they are better and take out their frustrations on their teammates instead of COLLECTIVELY WORKING GAME AFTER GAME to rise in the ranks. I've had my share of shameful moments, resulting in several extended chat bans for my behavior. I've learned my lesson...if I don't have anything constructive to say, I don't say anything.
Riot is cleaning this up, albeit slowly. It's a process, not a light switch. I watch high level streams and marvel at their map awareness, their mechanics but more than anything, the way they can turn a game around "COLLECTIVELY" by assisting other lanes or the jungle. They hardly ever go on TILT, because emotions don't help the cause. Rock on RIOT - ROCK ON I
