Even though it's a trendy acronym on the internet, and in gaming communities in particular, if you stop to really think about the idea of telling a complete stranger they should murder themselves is really really fucked up.
Riot has made it no secret that doing something like this... wishing or threatening harm on others... is an egregious infraction against their philosophy and policy. And for good reason.
I'd like to take it a step beyond saying, "Oh, well now you know not to say that in LoL." Genuinely, please consider what you're really saying with something like "kys" and avoid using it in the future... anywhere.

This is how the punishment system works. You told someone to kill themselves, which jumps you right to a 14 day ban. Do it again and you'll reach a permaban in record time.
Make use of that mute button when you can't find a way to respect people in game.

HalcyonDweller3 votesJust a heads up to keep in mind, once you hit 14-day ban it doesn't matter what severity your next infraction has, any sort of punishable behavior will be punished, and the next punishment after 14-day is a permanent ban.
I mean this as a friendly warning, you're on very thin ice now. You should probably avoid saying anything that might make your teammates want to report you, because even if what they report you for isn't punishable, the system can still punish you if it finds that you said anything else during that game that actually is punishable, even if it's not what your teammate reported you for.

A simple look through PB will show many players punished for consistently poor chat behavior, with the more severe cases, such as telling someone to kys, receiving a harsher punishment.
