Being negative is part of the game. Each part of these games, I was tossed in with people who were friends. Instead of backing off with the trash talk they continue, so I say I give up. Instead of Riot helping me out, and removing these players who trash talk me, I guess I should be banned for not assisting them.

If you got banned then you would have had to have gotten at least two previous chat restrictions before then and ignored them. Also, someone else misbehaving doesn't mean that you can start misbehaving yourself. If someone won't stop acting up then just mute and report them after the game is done. If you retaliate, both of you will be punished, it's really that simple.

Riot gives you the tools to help deal with these kinds of people, but it's up to you to actually use them yourself. If you don't then you can't really fault Riot for your unwillingness to use the tools given to you to help deal with the jerks in the game.
