Retard, Autistic/Autist

I'll keep it short and simple.

As an example, the "n" word, and the word %%%got, are both supposedly zero tolerance words for this community. I agree with this notion.

However, in at least half of the games I get in, there is an angry person that feels the need to call someone retarded or autistic. This is NOT okay. There needs to be less, and closer to zero tolerance for this, at least in my opinion.

I do not know if I need to elaborate on anything, but I could if necessary.

Why is this getting downvotes. Calling people autistic shouldn't be any OK.

I feel like a person's argument against their punishment already gets thrown out the window if the chat logs show that they called other people retards or autistic.

Ok sure but why3/8/2017, 2:33:10 AM2 votes

I'd personally just like to see more harsher punishment in bronze in general right now. Every day I play, and get trapped into games where someone either ints their ass off (and blames the entire team for it), verbally abuses the entire team in the lobby/game (and blames the entire team when they aren't 25-0 at 5mins), or takes a character they have no experience on (proceeding to do at least one of the first two followed by blaming the entire team when they aren't 25-0 at 5mins). Because of this, the entire tier has become a cesspool of toxicity where it appears (after reporting hundreds of teammates and not receiving one "this report has helped punish a player" thingy) that Rito doesn't care at all about it, ultimately forcing players like myself to contemplate switching to a different game. I understand that this game has/was always been known for the toxic community, but compared to season 6 it was nowhere near THIS bad.

A 1-10 tryn, 2-10 yi in your team deserved to be called a "retard", and I even consider that word be too polite to these fuckers.

It's already considered one the automatic words that can trigger chat-restrictions if it happens more than one game within whatever time-frame Riot uses. Racism/Homophobic/Derogatory terms usually all are picked up by the system, I think.

Really? They're fucking words. Are you really so offended by someone saying %%%got (I'm gay, so it's "okay" because it doesn't offend me) or autistic? Do you even fall under such classification, or are you just being offended on others' behalf? I would like an explanation, because they are _just _ words.

Dude I have Asperger myself and I use "Autistic" as slang. Sht like this thread is the reason nobody takes real harassment serious anymore.

Any psychology book will show you that punishment merely exacerbates the issues.

The more you punish people, the worse their behavior becomes.

Just try smacking a child upside the head with bricks and see how great of a person they turn out to be. Common sense tells you that the harsher the punishment people receive, the harsher they become as people.

There are several hundreds of books that speak on this matter verbosely.

People learn the best from positive reinforcement. If you want to teach people, you reward them for good behavior. Riot is well aware of this, as they have staffed psychologists in the past, and probably currently do. THE ISSUE IS, rewarding people in a F2P game, cuts out from profit. The more RP, IP, or just free skins/champs/etc, you hand out, the less likely they will be to hand over $$$ for those items.

(this is why you see rewards being issued yearly, and only the past 3 years.)

People learn second best from negative reinforcement. This is akin to, making a persons life a living hell, but alleviating that hell, when they act in the way which you want. The difference between this and punishment, is punishment is in response. Negative reinforcement is a constant.

People learn the least from punishment, and it often has negative consequences.

The same is true for most other intelligent animals as well. You can easily train a dog by giving it treats when it performs the way you want it to. However, if you beat your dog when it acts up, it learns that aggressive behavior is normal. Once you have normalized that aggressive behavior, that dog is much more likely to think, "Well I'm in the right, I should bite my owner to show him that his behavior is bad".

The fact that the community is so fixated on punishment, when it has ONLY MADE THE COMMUNITY WORSE in the past 4-5 years, is mind boggling. Esp given how common knowledge this should all be these days.

It is punished. The words simply aren't removed because for example calling the full Quinn lethality build retarded op shouldn't be censored.
