Summer split - First pick

Hi guys, I'm just posting this in case anyone is planning in advance for the next summer split fantasy league. The top10 players of the spring split were: 1- Steelback (ADC) 25.84 2- Huni (TOP) 25.08 3- Febiven (MID) 24.43 4- WildTurtle (ADC) 24.01 5- Bjergsen (MID) 23.22 6- Freeze (ADC) 23.15 7- Forg1ven (ADC) 22.68 8- YellowStar (SUP) 22.25 9- Fox (MID) 22.12 10- Cop (ADC) 21.91 I think it's safe to say that Fnatic players are going to be highly rated. My question is for the first pick. Obviously we have the top8 to give us a clue, also we have the spring split playoffs that will tell us a little bit more about what to expect of teams in the summer split (ie: Liquid did poorly in spring split but they've dominated since week 8 and they even swept CLG 3-0). And we have to watch out for the new teams coming from the challenger series (Origen in particular seems to be a title conteder team). All in all, I think that the first pick in the summer split should be HUNI. It may sound as something obvious for most of you, but it's also very strange to get a first pick on someone who's not either ADC nor MID. But here are the reasons why:

  • ADC TOP 6: 1- Steelback 25.84 2- Wildturtle 24.01 (-1,83) 3- Freeze 23.01 (-2,83) 4- Forg1ven 22.68 (-3,16) 5- Cop 21.91 (-3,93) 6- P1n0y 21.75 (-4,09)

While Steelback is the best pts/game player, number 6 p1n0y has a difference of -4.09 and STILL getting over 20pts/game; you have to go all the way to number 9 DoubleLift to get below 20pts/game. Which gives a lot of breathing room to get a very good ADC later in the draft.

  • MID TOP 6: 1- Febiven 24.43 2- Bjergsen 23.22 (-1,21) 3- Fox 22.12 (-2,31) 4- Soren 21.33 (-3,10) 5- Link 20.68 (-3,75) 6- Betsy 20.26 (-4,17)

Febiven is number 3 pts/game player. If you go all over to number 6 player Betsy, there's a difference of -4,17 (almost the same as in ADC) and still getting over 20pts/game. If you drop one position, you have Froggen with 19.24. Of course, here you have to take into account that Xpeke will be available and will be a very contested Mid laner. Also, you have players like XiaoWeiXiao, Hai, Fenix or Ryu who didn't have the best summer split in pts/game but could be considered top/mid tier MIDs. I think MID has even more breathing room for anyone to get a good player.

Here is where things get interesting:

  • TOP, top 5: 1- Huni 25.08 2- Cabochard 20.35 (-4,73) 3- Impact 19.50 (-5,58) 4- Fredy122 17.97 (-7,11) 5- Hauntzer 17.94 (-7,14)

Huni is not only the second player overall in pts/game, but also has an incredible difference of 4.73pts/game over the SECOND best top laner. To get 25pts/game from a player is huge, but to get that amount of pts/game from a position where the difference between 1st and 2nd best player is almost 5pts/game is incredible. You have to take into account SoaZ coming this summer split, but I don't really see him getting above Huni; maybe, and if Origen has a VERY good split, I could see 2nd best, but the throne here belongs to Huni and only him. Also, the difference between 3rd and 4th is notable, but once you go bellow that barrier, things get a little bit steadier.

Something similar happens in the SUPPORT position:

  • SUPPORT TOP 5: 1- YellowStaR 22.25 2- Lustboy 18.71 (-3,54) 3- nRated 18.46 (-3,79) 4- EdWard 17.10 (-5,15) 5- Aphromoo 16.99 (-5,26)

Not only Yellowstar is the only support to get over 20pts/game, but the difference between him and Lustboy is considerably big. And also, once you get below top 3, pts/game of players became a little bit steadier with a lot of very good supports to choose from like KaSing, Bunny, Adrian; or maybe even underperforming supports such as Xpecial and LemonNation who had a poor spring split but their teams are starting to get their engines going.

The jungle is a little bit more steady, there's no BIG difference between the top junglers, so I don't think it should be something to talk about.

In conlcusion: I think HUNI should be considered as a FIRST PICK in almost any league. The difference between him and the second best top laner is incredibly big, and you're getting a consistent over 20pts/game in a position that doesn't get that amount of pts. He scores as an ADC or a MID in TOP position. If you get first pick in an 8 players league and you get Huni, chances are that you'll be getting someone like Cop or P1n0y in ADC, or Betsy or even Link in MID, not a bad trade at all. I hope this is helpful and gives a little bit of an insight in the upcoming summer split. And, of course, thanks for reading all the way through, I know it's long, so thank you!

indeed, I'll be prioritizing Huni and YellowStar next split. I also suggest giving a chance to Elements as subs, the players are great and there is a chance they'll turn up and start wrecking teams again.

As a team H2K really picked it up after KaSing joining.. I would probably go by the players pts per game with him in the lineup

Im gonna be looking at some of the new players pretty closely specifically Innox Seraph xPeke Alex ich

But 1st pick Will be Bjergsen Huni or Steelback (or maybe XaioWeiXaio if Yasuo is strong?)
