Switching between starters and alternates even after locked

Why can't you switch between starters and alternates after the players are locked, aren't the alternates there so they can replace players that are under performing? In basketball, or many other sport league, if one player of a team isn't playing his/her best during one game (in fantasy lcs, it would be one week), the coach can replace him with a sub player (in fantasy lcs, it would be an alternate player).

You have to sort of predict their performance before the lock and then replace them before the lock also.

This makes no sense. In real sports the players bad performance hurts the team then the coach replaces them. If you could switch the player out of your starting lineup then his bad performance (which you chose to start him for) doesn't hurt you.

Fantasy sports are supposed to emulate the sport they are meant for. You can't switch players in the middle of a game of LOL.

Another problem is that the alternates aren't locked, you could just pick up whoever had the best week and put them in. When a coach makes a roster change they don't know whether the sub will play better or worse than the starter. If your alternate has already played you already know he is playing better than the starter you want to replace.
