Shovel Knight Yorick

So hey, wanna create a COOL-ASS skin AND also reference one of 2014's SICKEST indie retro-platformer game? Of course you do!

Ok so first things first: what's Shovel Knight anyway? Shovel Knight is a indie game that came out on Steam, WiiU and 3DS on june 26th of this year. It is a retro-platformer-action type of game. Think Mega Man, it would be the closest thing to compare to. So basically, you need to go through multiple levels ending with bosses that wield different powers. But my point here is this: the game is AMAZING. It is like a 8-bit instant classic. Gameplay, visuals, soundtrack and story all mesh well and make for an impressive feat of indie strenght. That being said, I'm pretty sure that Shovel Knight WILL be remembered fondly by a lot of gamers and write itself in history. It is awesome enough to deserve an ode to it's epicness and, at the same time, get a little bit of exposure out of it.

Now why would Riot make such a skin for a champion like Yorick? Well it's quite simple.

• Riot is big. As an important part of video games industry, I know for a fact that Riot often acknowledged other games by referencing them in League of Legends. I'm thinking of the Xin Zhao and Jarvan skins that clearly honor Dynasty Warriors, to name only one example. Like I said previously, Shovel Knight would be a cool game to honor in such a way. For all the reasons I mentionend before and many others. Seeing a big guy like Riot, prop a little guy like Yacht Club Games would be a big deal to me. It would make a difference and it would be beautiful.

• Yorcik has a shovel, Shovel Knight has one too. What more needs to be said? Well both characters also share a common "indie" feel. Shovel Knight IS indie, a new kid on the block if you will. Yorick is... well more of a hipster I guess. He's not one of the coolest kids around. He's been there for a while and doesn't seem to mind much that he's pretty low on the most played champions list. BUT! People who play Yorick know him to be crazy strong and fun to play. One cool indie skin could make him even cooler. Fans of Yorick and Shovel Knight alike could embrace the gift of slaying people with shovel justice and OP ghouls that do all the work for you. A match made in heaven. GREAT RIGHT? I think that pretty much sums up what I had to say on the matter.
