Lore

Xander was once a normal man who grew up in a small village, a village that was constantly attacked by Fiends of the Shadow Isles, mainly because of it was built atop an ancient burial ground, which housed great fallen mages. There were never extended moments of peace, but he and his people were always protected by various heroes. Xander, a young boy, was saved during an invasion by a heroine. She carried a large crossbow. From that day forward, he wanted to fight evil and become a hero. As he matures, He acquired an affinity for magic and sorcery. He traveled all over to study the arts, but never used or spoke of the power he acquired. He even sought the teachings of Ryze, a mage he only heard stories of, but could not reach him. Even with the great power he acquired, his heart remained pure.

In secrecy, he practiced both pure magic and dark arts, and despite being self taught, he exhibited exceptional skills, almost rivaling that of Runeterra's best. He gained a juvenile mastery of the art of healing, energy projection, astral magic, and casting illusions, but there soon came a time when he would have to use this power for the safety of his people. His first battle came when his town was yet again haunted by nightmares from the Shadow Isles. He alone defeated the evil spirits with his new found power, surprisingly not afraid, and also healed those who were injured. When the battle ended, he thought he'd be shunned for his power, but the town regarded him as a hero, and soon thereafter, named him the Great Protector.

Peace was restored, but only for a short while. Repeated attacks left traces of negative energy in his town, and some townsfolk had fallen ill. He did his best to heal those who afflicted, but unfortunately was not strong enough. This is when his greatest battle came, when his town was now targeted by Mordekaiser. The metal giant came roaring through, destroying many who stood against him, and taking the afflicted for his own personal gain. Xander, fearful, but ready to put his name to the test, and protect the people. He stepped out and battle Mordekaiser, but could not defeat him. Beaten nearly to death, he laid at Mordekaiser's feet, still trying to muster up strength to fight. Mordekaiser did not kill him, but challenged him again to a rematch in the Shadow Isles, to reclaim the souls of his people and avenge the fallen. He then cursed Xander, increasing his power, but putting his life of a timer. If he doesn't defeat Mordekaiser within two years time, Xander's soul would become his.

Now Xander travels the world, training, mastering his new strength, saving those who are afflicted by evil, and readying for the day he heads to the Shadow Isles to face Mordekaiser once more, and avenge his people, and those defeated at the hands of darkness.

Skills:

Passive: Protector/Avenger Xander gains a percentage of nearby fallen allies AD and AP, half of which is lost upon his death Xander also grants nearby allies increased AP and AD based on his maximum health

Q: Dark Explosion Xander fires a ball of dark energy that explodes on the first enemy hit and slows all those in the AOE effect range. If the ball hits an enemy champion first, the cooldown of this spell is reduced by one second

W: Spectral Double Xander clones a nearby ally champion for a few seconds. The clone has a percentage of the targets bonus health and the allied champion becomes untargettable for the duration or until the clone is destroyed. The clone does zero damage.

E: Shriek Xander lets out an unholy scream that stuns the first enemy hit for 1 second. Enemies behind the target are feared

R: Unmatched Power Passive: Xander's abilities do a percentage of his maximum health in damage Active: Xander marks an allied champion. If he is slain, 50% of his AP and AD transfers to the target ally for a few seconds. The marks transfers to the nearest ally if the initial target is killed, until it expires of Xander revives

(Not sure about the ratios of abilities)

I really like this idea, if only for the reason that it gives Mordekaiser some more attention.

A few problems I see at this point. mostly lore nitpicks.

  • I see that Jojo reference that you made (intentional or not?)
  • It would make more sense to me if he has been saved by Lucian and Senna, I don't see anything inspiring in Vayne.
  • I really like the Jack of All Trades mage idea, but it would mean he wasn't exceptionally skilled at one art in particular realistically, and the healing magic seems out of place with all the other dark magic he has.
  • With all the abilities, he doesn't really seem to have a specific role. He's got some Tanking abilities, some support abilities and his ult suggests he would be building offensively, but his passive suggests he's be builing tanky.

Mechanically, I think it would be fun to play as him, and I really think the league does need more development into the shadow isles 'heroes' instead of their villains.

It sounds like if you were to build Xander as a tanky ADC he could compliment an AP support fantastically. If the support dies while protecting Xander, he'd gain a temporary buff to his AP based on theirs, which could be amazing late game (cough, item 3089 item 3128 item 3157 cough). If he gets a percentage of 476AP, then dies in a team fight and someone like Soraka got half of his AP?

Reading his moves besides his passive, his moves make him sound like a cross between Shaco and Chogath , which means Xander would probably make a sufficient Jungler if someone wanted to do that. His E would be great for ganks, while his w would be like using Shaco's ult on an ally, but better (again, imagine invincible Aggro Soraka ).

As for his Q, it kind of sounds like Kassadin only better because instead of targeting one enemy champ, it does AOE. A move like that which an AD/AP leech is fantastic in a team fight, in my opinion.

ya but if you guys remember when sejuani first came out. it was a ap tank champion. this time xander is a ap tank/support that gets a bonus scale for ad and ap by staying near allies. which can be build tanky for late game runs where early games have a feeder staying nearby him to build his stats for earlyu damage

Think Champion Concepts go to Fan Creations (Actually a pretty fun place), but congratz on the PotD.

I personally think his theme of unholy protector needs a stronger central focal point, because I see some tank, support, and carry things going on within the kit.

I like the ultimate and passive ass a sort of taking up the mantle and its tie in to the lore, but his W feels a tad overtuned for allowing an adc to be untargetable (Essentially a free item 3157 that doesn't impede actions).

The rest of his kit just feels slapped together, with lots of creative design, but no cohesion.

Just my thoughts

I like your ideas, but I would change his w "untargetable" to "stealth", untargetable would be too strong both defensively and offensively. also, your e sounds more like an ability for a demon of sorts. I would make it "healing hands - heals an ally for a % of his max health (range like 200-400). then you could make his q stun the first target hit, then flare out like lissandras q and slow subsequent targets, with the slow effect or duration reducing with each one hit.

I like your ideas. Passive makes it sound like a duo lane with Kamikaze Karthus, lol.

A few questions about his skills: Is the clone for his W controllable? Also, it seems like a Kayle ult with probably would have shorter cooldown, being a basic ability, maybe a bit much? Does his E do damage too? It already seems like a crazy amount of CC, almost ult-worthy. Damage might be a bit much. Also it sounds like he could be played tank/support, since his passive and ult scale with health, also he has good CC and a supportive ability in W, but his passive seems to encourage him to let his allies die. Also, I'm assuming the passive won't proc off champions with revive passives/GA/Zilean ult?

I could take this so much more seriously if Xander wasn't the name of a bad Dominion troll
