Dear Riot:Sion DOES have a theme even if his kit doesn't

Sion is that classic crazy undead warrior who in life was nearly unstoppable until he met his end.

"Used by the Noxians as a human battering ram, Sion would be sent thundering ahead of Noxian troops. He would mercilessly slaughter foes with his large double-bladed axe, "Chopper". His complete disregard for caution ultimately cost him his life, as he was captured and summarily executed by Demacian forces."

What other champion in the League would literally hold off battleons alone while he waiting for his army to arrive? What champion in the League was so brutally bloodthirsty that in lore they would rush into battle without fear KNOWING they were the most prized soldier in their army ?

Sion could easily be equipped with the theme of a spirit wraith warrior. If anyone has read the Legend of Drittz trilogy they'd know about Zin-Carla.For those who don't know Zin-carla is a special type of undead created through a ritual which results in the restoration of a spirit to that spirit's deceased body.

For all intents and purposes, the spirit-wraith is the same as it was before death still retaining all it's past life and experience but with a repressed will,0 need for water/food and immunity to pain.In his new lore,Sion could be one of these but a special case since over time he will start to be at war within himself as a result of his reanimation. One side of Sion will start to regret all his sins in life and will seek a way for Sion to find his humanity for a second chance at life this being the reason for him joining League and his other will be a demonic, bloodthirsty being who wants nothing more but to murder this being another reason for him to join. This could open Sion to be the first officially schizophrenic champion the community has been asking for and open up interesting dialog interactions for him. There could be moments where Sion interacts with his Noxian allies cursing their names for making him what he is or moments where his noxian allies could feel pity for Sion.

When Sion walks he could be arguing with himself in 2 different personalitys : the sorrow and the anger.

Sion Sion to Urgot Urgot : "Our torment is the same, but you seek death and I seek life."

Sion Sion to Swain Swain : " YOU DID THIS TO ME,YOU WILL FEEL MY WRATH ONE DAY SWAIN. "

Sion Sion to Swain Swain : "I seek freedom, how many must I kill in the name of Noxus for my own life ? "

Katarina Katarina to Sion Sion " Poor Sion, not even you deserved this."

I'm not saying Sion's kit makes sense because it doesn't.But i'm simply pointing out that the original character theme for Sion being that huge undead guy with an axe could work in a very interesting way.

I don't think there's any question that there is plenty of opportunities for character in his current lore--you're right, a warrior who, in life, would fling themselves at the front lines without regard for himself is something to be reckoned with, and goes great with the undead theme. I think Sion's problems are that he doesn't exude that theme in game at all. His kit doesn't help with the theme, his VO doesn't help with the theme and his visuals only help a small amount. This is an instance where his theme needs to be shown, not just told.

That said, some depth of character like you mention could definitely be welcome. An internal struggle could be very interesting...though, I feel like giving him straight up split personality might make him too crazy: his theme is the fearless, painless, bloodthirsty front line of Noxus, and adding "crazy" to that almost feels like character overload. If nothing else, I reeeeally would like him to interact with his fellow Noxians more. :)

Apologies for de-railing your GD thread. I'll re-post my last response here.

Could you see Sion as being an incredibly ancient Noxian warlord just recently brought back to (un)life, with his soul stuck in limbo the whole time? I think being bodiless with hundreds of years to think about his ordeal would better support him growing a conscious, as he's unable to kill anything during that whole time. It would give him a crap-load of time to think and change. That, or get even angrier.

actually, i disagree with the split personality, we aren't talking about someone with a conscience, he threw himself (literally) at the enemy, crazy yes, fearless yes, schitzo? no. this is a man that loves killing just for the sake of killing if youve played him you know the phrase "get on my choppa'" aka kill yourself I'm better than you. that's where he should go, in life he could be hurt, in death hes an immortal juggernaut that will stop at nothing, to kill everything in front of him past friend or foe alike.
