A Viable Win-Win Solution to the New Lucian Problems

So there's no doubt that many have seen the situations that 4.12 Lucian can get into. With an item advantage on the Rift he begins relentlessly pursuing his enemies killing them in one to two combos with not much they can do to get away or outdamage him back. Even at even strength or a slight disadvantage his sheer mobility right now allows him to stay at a safe distance to do what he can or get way out the fight quickly when he know it'll go bad for him.

I've heard of multiple ideas for changing what is his biggest issue right now, his E, Relentless Pursuit:

  • Lose the CC removal - I think this takes of a level of mechanical play on Lucian that is not only important but fun for Lucian players. Granted, right now a full CC removal every 1-2 seconds isn't okay, but removing it altogether I don't think is quite the way to go.

  • Increase the Cooldown on E - This may be a good way to go, but I think it will be VERY touchy in the way of getting it right. After the changes recently made which I think are a lot of fun to play - increasing the cooldown on the skill you just recently indirectly reduced seems counter-productive.

  • Mana Costs on E - I think I love the removal of mana cost more than any change this patch. He's already a caster Ad who has to use his mana wisely so I would always level my E quickly so that I wasn't losing any Piercing Light casts by using my dash. Not having to worry about that now just allows you to focus on positioning correctly for your abilities. Personally I do not want to see the mana aspect return to E, if it does it hope it's fairly minor and manageable.

I think I have a better solution to his E that leaves Lucian players able to slip and slide around into correct positioning in the new fun mechanics, while not making him 100% immune to soft-CC chasers like Olaf or Nasus.

  • CC Removal effect can only occur every x seconds - I think this is a win-win situation fix to let Lucian still have his fun passive-dash mobility mechanic and at the same time force him to consider what CC's may be incoming that he may need to get out of and use the removal of them wisely.

Nah, removing slow removal and increasing the cd is the way to go.

Slow removal should not have been there in the first place
