Why are the RP & IP prices so different?

How come a 450 IP champion costs 260 RP,

  • making 1 RP worth 1.73 IP

but a Champion that costs 6300 IP costs 975 RP,

  • making 1 RP worth 6.46 IP

I'm not complaining about the prices because I think the 6300IP for a Champion are pretty fair and it's free to play, but I dont understand why the difference is so high. Shouldn't there be a fixed 'IP per RP' value?

A champion that costs 3150 IP costs **790 **RP but a Champion that costs 6300 IP (which is twice the amount of the mentioned before 3150 IP Champion) costs **975 **RP why is that so?

Psychological thing, by comparison it feels like your not spending much RP. As for the RP scaling I'm not as sure, but I do know that if the ever go over the 1000 RP mark they want to make sure you'll want w/e it is.

Because riot treats old low cost champions as 'introductory picks' and wants them purchased with IP (making you more inclined to spend RP on more pricy champs)

If you want the cheap champs, just buy a bundle and get them for 1/4 the price.

I've thought about this, and if ther's ever a day where riot has a thing where you can buy rp with ip (450ip for 260) riot would be so screwed
