[MAC CLIENT/LOADING IN] Gray screen (can't see a thing) but game loads in just fine.

FIX: UPDATE TO LATEST MAC VERSION (10.14.4)

Prefacing with my computer. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro 13 inch retina. Intel i5, 16 gigs ram, Intel Iris Graphics 6100. I'm running macOS Mojave version 10.1.14.

For every gamemode after champ select has gone through, the league game app pops up and it's instantly a gray screen. I've linked the window. The game successfully loads in. I can hear sounds, the cursor shows up, I can level up abilities using control, etc etc. However, I can't see the game. This only started happening after today's "Your Shop" update. I'm curious if anyone else is having the issue. Send help!

UPDATE: If I switch to light mode, the screen is white instead of gray. Still can't play the game but everything seems to be running in the background.

Same. It works for 1 game after you reinstall but goes back to gray screen after that 1 game

I don't know, but the gray screen only pops up on darkmode, if you have activated it in your system preferences! Instead its white. So the problem is, I believe, that the new update doesn't support 10.1.14 or something in that direction. I used 10.1.11 for quite a long time without any problems, but with the new version it keeps on bugging and crashing, AND it takes waaaaay longer to complete the loading screen (before this gray screen problem)

I am having the exact same problem, I switched accounts twice so all I know that my smurf didn't get leaverbuster after the first time. So I guessed it was on my end. The problem happened evn after restart of computer, client and reinstalling the patch. Pls fix asap Riot, same specs as OP funnily.

Guys I figured out a solution, I think the issue is borderless mode or maybe even windowed mode. When I switched it back to fullscreen manually by editing the file it worked. On Mac the file is called game.cfg and you can find it in the package contents of the league game inside the applications folder. ‎⁨ Macintosh HD⁩ ▸ ⁨Applications⁩ ▸ ⁨League of Legends⁩ ▸ ⁨Contents⁩ ▸ ⁨LoL⁩ ▸ ⁨Config⁩ Open the file called game.cfg with some editor and then modify the setting WindowMode=1 or WindowMode=2 and change the setting to

WindowMode=0

That fixed the issue for me hopefully it works for you.

I still think that league should be able to run in borderless or windowed mode in my opinion.

I have the exact same problem. iMac from 2017 here, also Mojave dark mode. Please fix this, I don't want to get reported for "being afk" if I just can't see my game because of the grey screen...

I think archmage is right. So far, I haven't had any grey screens (though one time, my screen was like grey along the bar at the top, which spooked me :P). Anyone else found it fixed?

Yeah same I also have this problem but I got lucky and found a way to still play. I have changed my swipe animation so that it fades instead of the usual swipe animation. Then when the grey screen pops up you can swipe a little to see the league game faded underneath. Then you can use that to guide your way to the settings and change the video settings from borderless to windowed and that should fix it for that game only.

To change swipe animation:

Open Settings
Accessibility
Display (side tab)
Reduce Motion (top right)

When league game screen (grey) opens:

Swipe (try both ways, you will understand when you see it)
Navigate your way to the videos tab to change the video setting to "Windowed Screen" (from borderless for me)
Hopefully that lets you play League again :) P.S will only wok for one game so it does suck a little

This just happened to me. I restarted, reinstalled, and tried to do what Tbagstealer (NA) recommended but it was already set to WindowMode=0. Please help.

I'm going crazy my mac is 10.15.1 Mac Book air retina.. Lol worked fine till new year and then it started crashing. I keep dowloading the game again but when it goes to loading screen it gets light gray and stays that way! I never get in. Please help.

This problem is still persisting. Just happened this evening. I have reinstalled the client twice. I have repaired it 4 times. I rebooted/restarted 4 times. I continue to get the grey screen and I cannot do anything. Yet, an hour prior, things were working just fine.
