Chat Service

After i updated my league client today i have an issue and i cannot connect to the chat in league of legends i am not able to talk to my friends in game and chat in lobbies. Help me please i find this very annoying and i would like to fix it i have tried a couple of ways i looked up but they are all old and dont work i am on windows 8.1 Help me please!
