Game Refusing to Run

I ran League of Legends yesterday with no issues other than the store bug. Today, I had to actively work to start my client.

What occurs: When I double click my desktop shortcut the words "League of Legends" with that grey bar underneath appears. The bar freezes with the tiniest bit of yellow filling it up, and does not open the patcher. This prevents the client from loading, and a person from playing the game.

How to Fix: I Ctrl alt delete'd and opened task manager. Locating the process I force ended the entire tree and then started it again. This seemed to work.

When I did not force end the entire tree and just closed the patcher, the problem did not work.

I am unsure if this is repeatable, but the bug is quite annoying.
