HORRIBLE ATTEMPTING TO RECONNECT BUG 4.17

Ever since patch 4.17 I have been getting "attempting to reconnect" while being able to see everything all allies are doing but without being able to control my champion. If I exist the game and end all processes associated with it. like in the past when clients were being stupid, I get the error message "cannot connect to server, and then it blames my firewall". Having not changed anything on my firewall I decided to turn it off anyway, no luck, that did nothing. If I let the game proceed it takes about 8 minutes then lets me back in. Sometimes I get no more issues that game, sometimes I get the same thing happening 5 minutes later. It happens on multiple networks using multiple computers, so I have concluded it is not on my end. Is anyone else experiencing this?? Some games are completely normal, but most games are fucking terrible.

I have this issue on all of my computers and networks. Even at friends' houses, I get a lot of it. To me, the worst has happened since 4.16: the constant "Attempting to Reconnect" then it'll drop the game on me, tell me my client keeps crashing, I'll close the game in an attempt to get back on it, leaverbuster. Won't matter if I close it or not to get the leaverbuster, but in 2 weeks I've gotten 2 24hours and just now a 3 day suspension because of it. Fix your shit, riot.

Sincerely, one of many pissed off paying customers.

Edit: This has happened on my mac, Alienware, HP envy, Dell desktop, custom desktop, and multiple other PCs I use at friends' houses.

Ok so after several matches with this problem I have done a little investigating. While playing League with all other applications closed and shutdown I have been monitoring my router traffic through it's web gui as well as running a few constant pings to various places. When I get the attempting to reconnect issue... I literally only drop 1 ping request to say Google or Riot servers. If I end the game process I am able to immediately reconnect. However, by this time I am either already dead or have run back to base automatically. This is a huge issue Riot. I understand internet traffic very well as I myself am a network engineer for a very large corporation. 1 dropped packet should not force me to have to reconnect. The game just sits there at attempting to reconnect. I have let it sit there for upwards of 10 minutes in a normal game just to see if it would ever reconnect and it doesn't.

Now onto some further testing...... I played some Battlefield 4 recently and I did see the occasional dropped ping and very very brief drop in traffic at my router but it never interfered with a BF4 game. One dropped packet should not permanently disconnect me from a Riot game either. I am dropping this one packet to my ISP and have already raised the issue with them. However, my connection is 99% stable so it is really not a problem in the eyes of my ISP. This one dropped packet completely kills my connection in a LoL game every single time without fail. I know Riot has some sort of fault tolerance in place but it needs a serious review.

I have played LoL on some really bad connections in the past as I travel for work and have never had the connection to the game fail like this. The connection that I have been on for the duration of 4.17 so far has been one of the best connections I have had on the road. Prior to 4.17 I have dropped some packets as all links will do but I didn't get stuck at reconnecting. The game would always pick back up after about a second of reconnecting. It does not do this anymore since 4.17.

Riot, I am asking as a very dedicated customer, please look into this issue. At least provide some sort of acknowledgement that you guys are looking into this issue?

My system is an 8.1 Windows machine that is fully up to date with windows updates, firmware on routers, tried to hard wire to ISP modem, and all the other sorts.

P.S. I have also tried putting the DD-WRT firmware on my router (Asus RT-AC66U). The problem still existed. I have reverted back to the RT-AC66U firmware as I like the Asus Gui much better.

ever since 4.17 i randomly disconnect from a game and it just endlessly says attempting to reconnect, and if i reconnect it either crashes at 100% repeatedly or says i have a firewall problem when ive never had any until this patch. Yeah I'm experiencing this too right now. Was playing fine then hit with huge lag. Then I was disconnected and it wont reconnect. It gets too 100% in the loading screen then crashes again. WTF. I'm using Windows 8.1

Yeah, i am running on windows 7 and i have been playing this game alot... my ping runs about 60 and the first couple minutes of the game. it starts to seem like im lagging then my champion walks the last place i click and i see everyone moving for a short period of time and the attempting to reconnect pops up and no matter how long i wait... it wont reconnect. So i have to run task manager to get it to restart then when i do that and hit reconnect. Sometimes it says its my firewalls, which is a lie i have all the ports open and made sure my windows firewall lets it through. I have tried everything. I know it isnt my internet and i cant play the game no more cause of this bug. No matter what game i play... i atleast disconnect once or twice out of the 20 games i played before i eventually just gave up and turned to dota 2... which is sad cause i love league way more :(

What happens to me is that I'm playing, then all of a sudden everything starts to get a little bit laggy. Then I cannot control my character but I can see everyone doing their things for a couple of seconds (maybe 10 seconds) and then it says "attempting to reconect!" but it never reconnects. I have to close and open the game again to get it fix, but I lose around 2 minutes everytime this happens. When i close and open again i dont get LAG at the loading screen, so it must be a bug. I can also use internet while im reconecting so its not like i lose all the conection

Are you using mac or windows? Literally almost everyone I see complaining about this problem uses a mac, yet I have the same problem on windows 7..

SO DONE, writing this for the 3rd time because for some reason it closes out right before I finish it. SAME HERE, this has happened to me multiple times now and i have gotten demoted from gold 2 twice. I am now in gold 2 again 0 lp and also just disconnected from my ranked game..... currently trying to reconnect to no avail PS: I am going to be fairly pissed if we don't get some tribunal: afk/disconnect immunity since we are not getting loss prevented.

Windows 7 user, happening to me as well ever since 2 patches ago. I can see everyone else move around and even chunk away at my health. The game doesn't return me to home base and all of my jungle timers are messed if and when I'm able to get back into the game. Usually what works is task manager, kill the process and reconnect when prompted. I've seen this happen to others including a 4 man feed to a yi at dragon today in ranked, causing a snowball we never recovered from. Short of task manager fixing it, I open cmd prompt and run ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns and that usually takes care of it until it happens again either in the same game or the next one! Very frustrating!

The most annoying part is that out of all the threads complaining about this, not a single one has had a rioter comment. Even the mega bug thread of 4.17 and 4.18. Nice customer service, they should at least comment a "sorry for this problem".

I also have this problem.

Inconsistently I will be "disconnected" and it will never reconnect (have waited over 30 minutes in one case) even after the game ends it will just stay frozen while it "attempts to reconnect".

In order to continue playing I am forced to leave and reconnect to the game manually, which often takes several tries as my game will "crash" in the loading screen. forcing me to click the reconnect button AGAIN.

So my question is "why is it inconsistent?"

If it was a problem with my firewall, wouldn't it happen every game? If it was a problem with my Antivirus, wouldn't it happen every game?

Neither of these have changed between games, so why would they only have a problem with LoL SOME of the time. Why would it continue to happen after I have disabled both?

If its a problem with my internet, why then can I stream HD video content without issue but LoL freaks out. Why can I have a perfect internet connection capable of this while simultaneously being unable to "reconnect".

This makes very little sense.

What might have changed in between games that I have this and games that I don't? The only things I can think of are:

A) the champions. Could this be tied to a specific champion? I don't think its likely (and I haven't seen any patterns here) but I suppose its possible.

B) Well, other than myself the players are different. Could that have something to do with it? (I'm ambivalent about this, but given the number of sites offering "drop hacks" discounting it would be foolish.)

C) The instance, which is to say, the virtual environment that all the players connect to for a specific game. Is it possible that that there is a problem with the way the client finds the correct instance and therefore spends forever pinging limbo?

D) Network usage. Multiple people run multiple things on this network, could that be it? But then why unlike normal lag does it NEVER go away in a particular game? Why don't I have lag with other internet dependent activities when this happens? why does it happen just as frequently when I am the only one using the network as when there are 3 or 4 people on?

I don't know. I am not an expert on computers or networks, so these are just a few ideas I have reasoned out. Maybe I'm completely batshit crazy. But if I am I blame LoL bugs.

I've read through all the comments, and somehow not a single one of them is from a riot employee. No acknowledgement, no help, no fix. Riot, you truly do fucking suck. Every ticket that somebody submits about this gets ignored. People are starting to get pissed off and you need to do something about it. There is no excuse for this level of incompetence..

Same problem here. The game is absolutely unplayable in this state. It makes me a very very sad panda. :( All drivers are up to date, Windows 7, I've even tried repairing my client. Nothing helps.

I am experiencing this as well. I am currently running Windows 8.1. Nvidia drivers are up to date. All mobo drivers are up to date. I performed a fresh install yesterday and the problem still exists.

At random points in the get I get a brief attempting to reconnect followed by about 1-2 seconds of being able to control my character followed by an indefinite attempting to connect. The game never re-connects itself. I can still see what is happening. People moving and watching them attack me until my health reaches 0 than it just sits there... attempting to reconnect. Over and over at least twice per game. The only resolution is for me to hard close the game via task manager and reconnect. I generally connect immediately but a few minutes later I have to repeat the process.

Throughout the entire time I have had continuous pings to google dns and my ISP... neither ping tests take any hits.

Riot, please fix this.

I think I MAY have found a fix. Either I did, or this is all extremely coincidental. Whenever I open League, there is a program that opens up in my task manager called "rads_user_kernel". I only noticed this recently, after all these disconnection glitches have been happening. I never bothered with it though because it told me that if I closed it then it would close League of Legends. But two days ago, I decided to close it just to see what would happen. To my surprise, League didn't close. The game I then played, I didn't disconnect. The game after that as well. I played a few games that night without any disconnections and with little or no lag spikes. I just finished playing tonight, as well. It's been about 6-7 games in a row I've played without experiencing the "Attempting to Reconnect" glitch.

WINDOWS

When you open the League of Legends client and log in, right click on your task bar at the bottom of your screen. Click on "Start Task Manager" (Or CTRL + ALT + DELETE and "Start Task Manager")

When task Manager opens, click on "Show processes from all users"

Once everything loads, it'll be sorted alphabetically. So go down to the R's and left click (one time) "rads_user_kernel"

Click on "End Process" at the bottom of the task manager (next to the "Show processes from all users" button)

That worked for me. Whenever I log into League I just do the steps above and I haven't gotten any problems. Like I said, it could be coincidental but this many times in a row? I don't know. Try it out and let me know.

I've been getting exactly the same 'Attempting to Reconnect' bug since the recent "live update". I can rarely finish a game without having to leave and reconnect (which only solves the problem until it occurs again). It's not my internet connection and it does not occur in any other game. I've never experienced this bug previously. I'll just have to stop playing until a fix is HOPEFULLY released. Maybe revert the client to pre-live-update status until the issue can be resolved.

On the bright side, I've somehow managed to win most games where this happens despite having drastic disadvantages due to my apparently random DC's. If only it didn't destroy the fun of the game :(

Went another RIOT. See this is what I don't get. I posted about this thing in Bug area about connection problem a few days back and my Post got deleted. Now I find multi post about people having the same problems. It not just me. I find this F stupid when they turn a blind eye to post like this and only focus on there LCS or what they can release new for more money.

Exact thing just happened to me today, the whole game my ping was stable then suddenly I couldn't move at all "attempting to reconnect" error comes up. I can see what is happening around me but my character refuses to move. I was forced with a loss after I tried repeatedly to login but kept getting the error. Please Riot, look into this.

Im typing this as it is happening to me. I played seveal Legend of the Poro King rounds and when i went to play another one, it was "attempting to reconnect" in champion select. It is also not letting relog because the game wont load, stuck at 33%. fik this please because im know im going to get banned for this

I have been having this problem for months... and have been searching for solutions, more recently because im so fed up it's depressing me. I am not the only one either, I have a roomate with a lot of issues and have read too many countless others agony... and upon my searching, I found a link to the archived subjects and threads that these problems have been dating back for nearly 2 years+ I just discovered. I have been playing this game... for a long time now... and I have invested a lot of money. I have suffered hours upon hours of bans and restrictions due to the errors of the game not connecting and or disconnected whenever it wants nearly every second and never know when or if it's gonna happen, but it does. Very stressful, I just want to enjoy all the skins and characters I buy, and I freakin can't. lol, fix this! Don't get me thinking you're stealing our money! (windows 7)
