MacOS Failure to Launch Game After Champion Select (Reconnect)
The symptoms are as follows:
- Client launches just fine, but after champ select you cannot launch game. Client just says "RECONNECT".
- You cannot spectate. It simply doesn't launch.
- Basically the secondary app that League of Legends tries to launch in order to get you into the game, never launches.
Now I don't know why other people may be experiencing this, but after reseaching and trying everything I could possibly think of over the course of a couple of days, first I noticed something. When I was launching the "Hexatech Repair Tool" from my Mac's Downloads folder it came up, but none of the text populated on the buttons and check boxes. It was completely blank. But when I transfer it to a thumb drive and launch it it comes up just fine.
That's when I remembered that when I reinstalled MacOS Sierra I formatted the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)" file system, so I decided to create a second partition with Disk Utility and this time I formatted it as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", in other words case-insensitive. Then I transfered my 'League of Legends.app' from the Applications folder to my new partition and it would not transfer because some files were "case sensitive" and therefore cannot be written in the new partition. So I installed the game again, this time I dragged the icon from the League Installer into the new partition instead of the Applications folder and did the full download and install process and everything worked as before.
TL:DR
- The League client seems to have issues with the Mac OS Extended (case-sensitive, journaled) file system partitions.
- Create a secondary case-insensitive partition or reinstall MacOS on a case-insensitive partition.
- Reinstall game in secondary partition, or in the fresh MacOS installation.
- Enjoy.
@Riot Please try to figure out why your launching scripts can't successfully launch the game from a case-sensitive partition on MacOS. Thanks.
