Mac resolution issues

Annoying resolution problems going on. When I pick my standard resolution in game, the ui is so small i can barely read anything (res: 13.3-inch (2560 x 1600)). Then when I pick a lower res, when I close the game my mac reverts to the lower res I picked in the game.

Here are my full mac specs: Mac OS Sierra 10.12 (16A323) MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB Display: 13.3-inch (2560 x 1600)
