not showing champion selection

hey so my friend has experienced where we both are in a game lobby and a match is found and he joins i never hit join button but shows i do and he says its in champion selection but in waiting for lobby still and i get banned for not choosing a champion has anyone else experienced this problem if so is there a way to fix it
