DJ Sona's tracks within each album not activating upon using abilities, as advertised

DJ Sona

Sona According to the promo website here, near the bottom at "Abilities", Sona's 4 abilities should alter the track within each of the three albums when you use them. However after not noticing any new music shifts upon casting abilities (as advertised), I decided to take it to a custom game to see if I could get the music to change. I found:

  • New tracks do not trigger upon the activation of abilities as shown.
  • New tracks do not trigger when the beat "drops" and you are in the middle of an ability (such as having E active).
  • New tracks do not play when the abilities are maxed out and activated.
  • New tracks do not activate at level 18.

I understand you type in /toggle to change her style/album, but how/do these new music styles even activate? The fact that I could change the music and alter it with abilities was really the selling point for me. Right now the new Sona skin feels like a quiet (yeah its quiet also) new background track, and not the musical spectacular I was hoping for.

You're misunderstanding the description. The music doesn't change as you use the standard abilities. The Abilities videos were demonstrations of the visual effects. The music does add more layers the first time you use Crescendo at each rank.

  • New tracks do not trigger upon the activation of abilities as shown.

QWE aren't supposed to change the music. Edit: Just tested. QWE do add another instrument. The changes are permanent, though. You won't keep hearing a change every time you use a skill.

  • New tracks do not trigger when the beat "drops" and you are in the middle of an ability (such as having E active).
  • New tracks do not play when the abilities are maxed out and activated.

The first time you use R upon reaching rank 1, 2, and 3 is the point that each track upgrades.

  • New tracks do not activate at level 18.

They do if your first time using Crescendo since adding a rank to it happens to be at level 18.

The actual beats can't be synchronized with ability usage. That would allow too much disruption in musical flow or add delays to ability usage. So while it's a simulation of a DJ dropping the beat when you fire Crescendo, it's not a sudden drop. It's a layer added to the currently playing track (and upon switching tracks, each one will be at the same depth).

To hear how the music changes, start a custom game and mute all sounds except music. Hit level 6 without ranking up any skills. Then use each one separately and listen to the effects.
