Jhin W icon bug

I just played a ranked game using jhin. Upon getting my w at lvl 2 I landed a root on the enemy cait. After the root was done the icon stayed on her however. As the game went on any enemy I landed a root on they would carry the icon for the rest of the game. Obviously this became very confusing in the mid-late game. Im not sure what caused the bug and I have never seen it before. I had a bard support so there might be something there.
