Kassadin E bug

I was playing Kassadin and used Rift Walk, then immediately queued up E and he fired it behind him instead of in the direction he was rift walking in. I know this bug was an issue in the past with champs like Nidalee and her pounce, just wondering if Kassadin might have some residual buggery with him.
