Friend ranks S' and i got no chest

Hello dear riot, I just played a game with my dou partner who ranked S while playing thresh (carrying us all in a mad game) he got a brand new chest for his efforts, yet i got nothing for watching. from what i understood i should get a chest myself. I still have one more chest to earn this month. what could be the problem? thanks in advance!

What champion did you play? If you played a champion that you don't own or a champion that you've previously gotten a chest on, then you won't receive one.

If you go to your profile and look at your champs it will tell you if you can get a chest while playing on that champ or not
