Game Not Opening?

Hi! I have a Celeron Processor and 4 GBs of RAM... Bad, I know. However, these settings still allowed me to run LoL around a month ago. I barely scraped through games with about 15 fps (2-5 fps in teamfights), but I could still open and run the game. Currently, the launcher will open but when I try to get into game, there's constantly a 'Reconnect' button on the client and nothing happens. I know a better solution to this would be to simply get a new computer, but money is really tight for me. This is just something i noticed very recently (probably 30 minutes ago) when I could not connect to a game. Some friends I play with have better computers than me, and they, too, complain of a recent lack of fps... I just figure that my 15 fps simple got brought down to not-able-to-run. Out of curiosity and my personal love for the game, did a recent patch/update make the game require more from my laptop? Is there anything I could do to alleviate this? Should I try reinstalling my client?
