Kalista's item The Black Spear

Kalista's passive is very nice, especially with her unique item (The Black Spear). But sometimes I bind with the wrong person and I see in the shop you can buy another one. The problem is you can buy the spear but you can't use it. I was wondering if we could actually be able to use it?.
