Buglord Azir Again [GAMEPLAY]

Hello, I'm a level 7 Azir and I have been frustrated by a quirk (maybe a bug?). First, I keep auto attack enabled. When my sand soldier is attacking a target, they will sometimes switch to a new target before killing the first. As you can imagine, this is an enormous frustration to farming. Is there some mechanic at play that I'm unaware of?
