Mac OS Mojave 10.14.5 - LoL client crash during game download

I'm trying to install LoL, and the client consistently crashes when I see a box in the upper left corner that says "game | downloading." Usually it happens around 40%, and sometimes it says "you don't appear to be connected to our download servers" servers even though my internet connection seems fine - can still load web pages. I also get "we're unable to log in because you may be offline" despite this. And it will crash at the login page as well as after I'm logged in. Anyone else having these issues? Is there a fix? I've tried uninstalling + removing all LoL files and reinstalling multiple times, but the problem persists. Hextech repair tool doesn't help either.

I'm coming back to the game about a month after uninstalling it, and my Mac hasn't updated since then, so my thought is that there's an issue with the client.

I have had a similar problem. Ever since patch 9.20 my LoL has been acting weird. Whenever I closed it I would have to reinstall it then it would work. Now, the new patch rolled in and whenever I download it starts normally. It says "downloading" with the MBs and when that's done it goes to Updating. When the updating is done, it closes and when I try to open it again the same thing happens. Does anyone have this problem too, or does anyone know how to fix it?

Maybe it has something to do with firewall? Try turning it off when downloading.

I have the exact same problem. I'm wondering if they're going to fix this because it appears this has been an older problem.

Im having the exact same problem right now months from when this was originally posted, but can't find any solutions anywhere. Have tried everything you mentioned above, as well trying to fix kernel.

Has anyone figured this out? I have a MacBook Air from 2015. LOL was working really well on my laptop for about a year - no issues- till I uninstalled it a few days ago, just to immediately install it again after. Kept coming across this problem with the crash at 40% after. Please help! Miss playing league and season starts tomorrow :((((
