Title explains it. Reproducable 100% of the time. 1) Buy Spellthief's Edge. 2) Place a box. 3) Champion gets damaged by it. 4) No money.

Since Zyra's plants and Heimerdinger's turrets both proc Spellthief Edge there is no reason that Shaco's Jack in the Box shouldn't as well.

Shaco's boxes don't apply spell effects or on-hit effects but that's no reason why it shouldn't apply the gold passive
