Kalista ult give knockup without moving binded champ

So today during my last game i was playing against a Kalista/Nami bot lane. And every time Kalista would ult nami, nami would be pulled in and be able to throw herself at us, but when Nami came out of the animation she would be placed at kalista's location rather than where the knockup had happened. Giving them a free knockup with no risk to the nami. Idk if this is common or not, i dont see kalista often, just wanted to report what i saw.
