I've just started playing LOL, but now whenever I get on and is about to start the loading screen of the characters, it immediately goes to the reconnect screen. And when I press the reconnect button, it shows "game is still in progress" and goes back to the button. Now i'm banned for literally no reason and I can't play it with my brother. It's not my connection since I checked my connection and played multiple times and never affects me. It's really annoying and I just want to play again.

Literally logged in just to raise my hand and say 'likewise'. No leave-buster punishments here but I lost LP and received a 'leaver' tag.

I had kind of the same problem: Game won't launch after the game started. So forced-quit LoL, and restarted the client. As soon as I reconnected to the client, it automatically reconnected me to the game (didn't asked me if I wanted to). I could play perfectly normally, but after the game (someone didn't connected, so it was a remake), I was tagged as "leaver", even though I didn't leave or afked at all. Then, I had to type the "I Agree" to be able to access my LoL client again.... great!

Same SH! I got 20 min leaver now!!! and lost a lot of LP because the game stopped to work AT ALL! it stops working right after pick done and it goes from client to game itself. it doesn't even start practice tool game now! I did 1) run repair 2) deleted game & reinstalled ALL again. steel same bug - game do not work! do not start the match! it runs some stupid .exe file with old LoL icon (square one) when I always had new (round) icons in system viewer. so this square icon starts and the game stops to work and never goes to the loading screen with champions. if I kill this not working part, the client goes to [reconect] button and if I hit it, it says "game is still in progress" and DO NOTHING after!

I played 10+ matches yesterday with no issues!
