Client freezing doing anything but fine in game

since yesterday anytime i try to use league the client periodically freezes, its fine once im in game if i can make it that far but forced to dodge a few times due to the game freezing and not being able to select a champ. when it freezes it causes my computer to freeze anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or so, please help?
