PVP.net Patcher Kernel crashing

I am running a Windows 8 HP laptop. The PVP.Net patcher kernel keeps crashing and won't let me even get to the splash screen. I disabled the firewall, and ended some processes, which didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, didn't work.

I finally got it to at least launch, here's how:

Open C:/Riot Games/League of Legends/

I then double clicked on lol.launcher.admin

It's launched now, and is doing a patch update. So in 2 hours or so I'll hopefully be able to play.

Hopefully this will help other people who are out there and having the same issue.
