Beta Client Won't Let Me Edit Masteries Randomly

First of all, what the hell? You can't connect to games in the original client, you lose connection in the beta and on top of it, I'm sometimes unable to edit masteries until client reset.

I'll be in champ select for my next game, go to change my masteries and it's just frozen up. So I dodge and throw my series, or play without masteries and potentially get banned from players flaming?

Please help?
