An unknown Directx Error has occurred...

OK so i keep getting this message whenever i try to join a game: An unknown Directx error has occurred and League of Legends cannot start. Please make sure your video card is using the latest video drivers from the manufacturer. I have tried literally every solution out there on the internet and nothing has worked. All of my drivers are up to date. I have pretty much given up due to nothing working so i was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions that isn't already in other threads. I have deleted tons of files and uninstalled several times and reset my computer. Getting to the point that I'm just going to quit the game because this is ridiculous.

What GPU, OS, drivers, other hardware?

Can you get far enough into the game client to start a repair, and have you tried downloading the installer and running it again?

Have you tried the low-spec mods, and otherwise disabling as many settings as possible? You could also try editing or deleting the graphics config file (it may be a specific setting incompatible with your rather old hardware).

This file (assuming you installed LoL to the root of C: in windows) C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Config\game.cfg

Open game.cfg in administrator mode notepad and lower settings, or simply move/rename the file and test the client. If it works, just reconfigure your settings. If it crashes and burns horribly, move the file back and try something else.
