Login bug raises other questions

I was experiencing lag in a game after the patch today, so I closed the game and client and restarted my router. When I opened the client and attempted to login, I got the protocol error people are posting about now. I have yet to get back onto the client, or into a game. I expect I will get reported for afk/leaving game. It was not my choice to stop playing that game. Should I be punished because you rushed the release of your latest patch? Rito pls
