[CLIENT] PVP.net Client won't reliably launch since 4.20
Hitting the "launch" button on the patcher doesn't always launch the PVP.net client. So far, it hasn't launched at all on 4.21. I've tried both with and without Steam, Skype, LoLRecorder, Curse Voice, Chrome, Run as Admin, and I've tried rebooting. Every time the launch fails the three LoL Client threads stay active with no active window:
- LolClient.exe *32 (3,156K RAM)
- LoLLauncher.exe *32 (3,036K RAM)
- LoLPatcher.exe *32 (5080K RAM)
All RAM values are the same every time. Reproduction rate is 100% for me as of 4.21 (~20 tries with different program configurations every time.) I've attached my dxdiag for system specs, if anyone thinks they're relevant. I'm running an install repair now and will edit this when it finishes to tell whether it helped or not.
In 4.20 it would take ~4 relaunches to get the client to actually launch, and the first game load would fail, requiring another ~3 launches to get in game.
EDIT: Well the repair had an unspecified error and crashed. Sent in a bugsplat report. Will try again and report back.
EDIT2: After opening the launcher, I assume the repair auto-resumed. I got to the login of the launcher, but no luck; it hung on the "logging in..." for ~5 minutes. I closed it and I'm now back where I started.
EDIT3: I uninstalled. Fresh install patching has crashed 3x in a row at around 90%.
EDIT4: Ha. It was storing patch data to the wrong hard drive since the new SR VU. When I reinstalled the first two times I forgot to change the directory from C: (solid state for my OS) to F: (RAID0 optical array for everything else) Problem solved for now!
