Ranked pregame lobby bug?

I don't know if it's a bug or not, but when I entered a ranked queue, the lobby seemed to be lagging. Not too sure if it was my internet connection or not, but being third pick I simply chose my champion when it was time whilst discussing a solid team comp with my teammates who had yet to pick.

Once the second countdown was a go, my friend (who I was skyping with) was kicked from the lobby and she was given a message stating that the game was canceled because I failed to choose a champion. I checked my friends list and her status went from "In champion select" to the usual green text so I'm fairly sure that this wasn't some prank.

After relogging I was given a leaver buster wait time as well as a defeat for one of my promotional games. I just thought I post here and ask if it was the league client or just my internet?
