Picked it up this entire week, while playing Summoner's Rift. Every time I play Thresh I cant execute a minion, with Gold item, using Spoils of WAR. The execute only triggers on a last hit on a creep. Only picked it up with Thresh so far. Works with other champs when tested.

's auto attacks are ranged. Just like:

Someone clearly didn't read the tool-tip closely enough.
Come on, people.
Both Thresh and the item have been out for AGES now, Thresh is considered a ranged Champion, same reason why Runnan's works with him and Tiamat doesn't.
