[GAMEPLAY] Options Menu freezes Game even Without Changes

When opening and closing the Options Menu in game [by pressing esc] it freezes for 2-4 seconds even when no changes were made and there is nothing to update/implement.

This is most probably due to the fact that an algorithm runs through the options searching for changes it has to implement - but if none were made, wouldn't it be faster to let it skip that? This has a relatively small effect ingame, but it still takes away from the playing experience. For example, you're at 15%hp, backing behind the tower and looking through options to adjust the sound or something. Nida throws a spear, and you exit the menu to dodge without having made any changes. The game freezes, and you die.

Admittedly, this doesn't happen every time I exit the menu. (mostly if I close the menu shortly after opening it) I'm also willing to accept if this a problem with my PC/Hardware, I just wanted to see if anyone is aware of this.
