Visual flickering when cursor hovers over targets

SlimGim··2 votes·908 views

I have been looking around for another post with similar problems but so far nothing. My game runs fine but when the mouse cursor hovers over any highlight-able target such as a turret, minion, or champion, the target model starts flickering. Everything else remains the same. There is no dip in fps but the flickering will not go away until the cursor moves away from the target. I have tried changing the resolution, changing the display settings, and going into windowed/borderless mode but the flickering remains. I am playing on a 2011 macbook 15-inch with High Sierra 10.13 macOS installed on it. Does anyone have similar issues or is this just me?

Heya,

Sounds like some of your game files have become corrupted.

Hi! I have just tried the full repair but the problem is still there. I have attached a screenshot as reference to the problem if you look at the blue turret that is highlighted. https://i.imgur.com/GA28Ula.png?noredirect

Remember to reply to this post if you get stuck, I'm here to help if you need it.

I had this same problem when running League of Legends on Linux. This bug has to do with the way League of Legends does OpenGL rendering. I'm going to tell you how I fixed it but remember that the steps I took will definitely be different then yours because I was running it on Linux instead of Mac so if you get stuck or it doesn't work then don't get frustrated, let me know what the problem is and I'll try to help you as best as I can. I don't recommend doing what I did as the first thing you try (because the way I fixed it probably wont work for Mac). Here are two troubleshooting things you should try before trying what I did:

  1. Make sure you have no Razer programs (like Razer Synapse) running in the background, if you do, disable them.
  2. Turn off any V-Sync settings that you have turned on.

This is how I fixed it: Before you can do anything you need to get to the League of Legends files. You get to the League of Legends files on mac by going to: Applications -> League of Legends -> Right-click the icon -> Show Package Content. Now that you're in the League of Legends files you need to find the "game.cfg" file. This is the file where League of Legends saves all of your video settings. To get to this file you need to go to: Contents -> LOL -> Config. Now that you've found the "game.cfg" file, you need to edit one of the settings inside of it. Open the file with a text editor (like TextEdit or AppleWorks) and look for the line that says "x3d_platform=1" and change it to "x3d_platform=0". If this doesn't fix it or makes it so the game doesn't launch all together then don't worry. Just change it back to "x3d_platform=1" in the settings.

I have one last thing you can try if all else fails. This method is pretty much guaranteed to work but you have to be willing to put in the work. Remember how earlier I said that this bug has to do with OpenGL rendering? Well, installing League using Wine allows you to render League of Legends with DirectX, allowing you to avoid the bug entirely. Wine is a program that lets you install Windows programs on Mac and Linux. You're probably wondering: "Why should I install League of Legends on Wine if League is already supported on Mac?". The reason why I would try running League under Wine is because Wine allows you to run League of Legends using DirectX rendering. The problem with DirectX is you need a program like Wine if you want use it on any Operating System other than Windows. If you want to know how to install League of Legends using Wine let me know. I have to go to school right now so I have to end this short but if you want to try installing League of Legends using wine on Mac then just let me know by replying to this post. DON'T try any of the tutorials on how to do it on google because most of them are out dated and don't work.

Having the same issue.

Playing on a 2012 MacBook Pro. Maybe it’s a problem with the Mac client.
